LEGO Power Miners

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

In a follow-up to the Rock Raiders episode, LegoLee329 drills deep to unearth the history of LEGO Power Miners and all the components that made this beloved mining theme what is was.

Good morning, good afternoon, a goodevening whenever, wherever you are listening, thank you so very much.ricking me a part of your day. My name is Leepary might know me as Lego, Leeor Lego Lee three, two, nine from Youtube. FACEBOOK, twitter, instagrampatron nname it. I am all over the Internet- and this is the brick Ologypodcast the study of small plaster bricks. How are you doing today? Isincerely hope you are having just an absolutely great wins day Wednesday.Yes, it is wed nest day, Wednesday, well techically, it's Tuesday, becauseI'm recording that Tuesday, but I'm uploading on Wednesday and Wednesdayiskind of weird right. It's Hump Day. I don't I don't I don't post bigology onHup Day. I don't it's always Friday. Have? U Put it every single episode, all fourteen episodes, AF brickology prior to this one, had been uploaded onFriday. I think Fridayis the perfect day to do it. You Know Movies Come Ounon Fridays, big drops everything comes out on Fridays. Fridays is a big dealand it means everyone can listen to the episode over the weekend and have itfor the entire work week coming up until I 'l but another one, the nextFriday. It's great it's great. I love Friday whyi'm up litin Wednesday. Youmay ask well, if you listen to brick ology last week, I alluded to that. Imight be out of town a this a coming weekend and well. Yes, I am going to beout of town this upcoming weekend, I'm going on an epic journey, helping mybred brother move from one place to another and we're going to drive likethreethosand miles. It's going to be quite the adventure if you will andit's going to be a lot, and I have no idea how my wifi reception, all thatjazz is going to be. Maybe I'll have great lifeat the entire time, and therewas no need for me to upwith this episode two days early, but I'mguessing just based on the places we're going. We might end up in the middle ofnowhere a lot and there could be pretty shoddy reception, hopefully fingerscross. I can continue to upload daily on Instagram. That would be really bad.I have not missed a single day postid on instagram last time I miss a day anInstagram, I believe, was in December of last year, so almost half a yearopposing at least once Instagram thot multiple times a day. So hopefully mydaily instagram post will continue, but I just don't think I'm not confidentenough that I would have had enough reception to be able to upload anentire podcast online. So I'm doing it two days early, it's kind of like aThursday night football game in the NFL first off duty. You guys get my sportsreferences. I feel like I make a sports reference, every other episode or so,and I just don't think Lego fans are super into sports, because I mentionedthat in my episode about Sports, the second episode of Brikology from a fewmonths ago- and that is my least strength episode of Brick Ologi. Somaybe there's not as much crossover but we're already here. So are we going togive you the sports reference for this week? So, basically in the NFL, younormally play a game on Sunday. Obviously Sunday is you know footballday, but sometimes you play a game on Thursday and if you play a game onThursday, that means you have a short week. So, instead of getting a week offfrom Sunday to Sunday, you only have four days off n you play on Thursdayand it means to have kind of a rushed short week. But then, after thatThursday game, that means you don't play until the next Sunday and skipping. You know the following: Immediate Sundays, so you have like ten days offthere, that's kind of what's coming OFTF brickology, you guys are going tohave to Brigoci episode in five days and there won't be anontheir episodeuntil next Friday, so nine days from now. Okay, I probably didn't need toexplain all O that in so much detail, but I just want to let you guys knowwhat's going on and why there's an episode coming out on Wednesday insteadof Friday- and this is episode- Fifteen- pretty big lamemark for bricology-really happy about that. We are in full swing for season to a bricology. It'sgoing so great. My streams are really they're, just they're doing really well,I'm so happy with how this podcast has been going, and hopefully this upcomingsummer is an amazing summer for...

...brickology. Weekly Post are going tocontinue and my alternating pattern of a license, and then unlicensed themewill continue to continue. So last week was scooby do and two weeks ago I didthe Rock Raiders Episode N and that episode I already announced what thisweek is Lego power- minors, which is kind of you, know very closely relatedto the Rock wraiters theme, so furtheir, due let's jump into talking about LegoPower, minors. Now right before I jump in. If you didn't listen to the episodefrom two weeks ago that I already mentioned about Lego Rock Raiders, Iwould suggest listening to that episode. That episode gives a lot of informationjust kind of about that theme. I'm definitely going to allude to thattheme throughout this episode, so go check, ou the episode real quick, ifyou haven't already an obviously shameless plug to listen to otherepisodes of this podcast. Now Rock Raiders came out n the Ar one thousandnine hundred and ninety nine, and it was the first Lego theme to reallyheavily focus in on mining as a form of playability and story. So Rock fatersis about this group of miners harvesting. These crystals power minersis, for all intents, an purposes kind of a spiritual sequel to rock raiders, but not really. It actually has no connection storywise to rock raiders. It's just kind of like a spiritual predecessor. Well Rock raiters ul be aspiritual predecessor to power miners pom Maners, it's like a reboot, it'sheavily inspired by rock raiders. They are often groups together and it cameou a full decade later in two thousand and nine now, pae miners draws a lot ofinspiration from the rock wraiders theme, but it also mixes up things. Apretty good bit I'll explain the story for power manters here and just asecond, but I want to talk about the differences between power, miners androck raiders, so the Rock raders theme is set in space on a different planet. It's a group of space people and they have a spaceship and they run out offuel and they go to this small planet to try and harvest their energycrystals. So they can go back home and their spaceship power. Minors is anearth based theme. It is set on earth at is not a space theme at all rockraiders. You know this is pretty understandable because I said it's. Youknow. Space theme is more futuristic than power. MITERS power, minors. Youknow punintended is a more down to firsh mining base team. It's definitelygot a more rugged feel and Brikipedia describes us as the power miners aredressed in blue and gray, clothing and their vehicles are green and orange insome fashion and that's similar to that of a real world minding equipment. Thisis a fundamental difference between the theme rock craters, which is morefuturistic, so I think brikipedia definitely puts it there pretty well tokind of describe the big differences between the themes and then one morething is the reason. They're mining I've already mentioned that the rockcraters they're minding the crystals to power their ship. The power minors areactually investigating earthquakes that are happening underground and thereason those earthquakes and trimmers are happening is because rock monstersare consuming the power crystals underground. So there's differentmotivations for these themes, different settings, but ultimately they're bothsimilar because of their builds, it's a bunch of vehicles and play sets andthings of that sort that focus on mining and collecting crystal pieces, and the crystal pieces are pretty much the exact sene between the two themes.Additionally, these two themes definitely have some aestheticdifferences, I'll mention that later on, when we talk about the actual sets ofthe line, but let's talk about the story of power miners here, real quick.I've already mentioned a few things about the story, but I'm just going toread off this tar description from Brikerpedia. I'm not very good atreading things off like a script, so bear with me. Hopefully I do my best. The theme is set in underground caverns, like the rock craters theme, and thebasic story involves a group of mining specialists called the power miners. The team is sent underground to...

...investigate what is causing a series ofearthquakes responsible for the devastation of several cities on earthssurface. Well, there, the patminers discover the energy crystals and therock monsters the team decide to attempt to collect and mind thecrystals in order to stop the monsters from consuming them and causing more ofthese rumblings on the surface, it wasn't half bad. I don't think I reallymet ut too much reading off that description, so that is the basic storyof power miners and the second year of power minors, the story, it's Yo. Theyhave have a longer description on brickipedia, but essentially they godeeper into the earthcore and they find the multicore of earth, which is Lovabased ind. The whole thing kind of takes a Lov of a turn, and we'lldefinitely talk about that. When we talk about those sets, but before weget to the sets, let's talk about the characters that populate the sets, theRock raiters characters all had very stupid and generic names, its actuallyone of the first lego themes ever to have specifically named characters.Obviously, power miners came out a decade later, so this wasn't a newconcept for Lego, but yet again the characters have very silly names akinto the rock wriders characters as well. So the leader of the bunch know himwell, his name is duck. That's it then Yeu had wrex. Who is the engineer Dukewho is the mining veteran and then personally my favorite character, nameDOCR, Brans Yeah, Dr Brains? That's the most creative thing the Lego team cameup with he's the top scientist. Surprise. SURPRISE: A guy named Rbrains is a scientist. That's a pretty pretty stupid! Name Lego! You couldhave done a lot better than that and then, of course, there's the rockmonsters now from Rock Raiders, the Rock monsters. There was just one: it'sjust one very chumky brown rock monster power miners, though they have a lotmore varieties of rock monsters, a lot more color, a lot more playability andthey have specific names. The smaller rock monsters were actually shorterthan mini figures, and they had a cool play feature where their mouth couldopen up and you could fit one of these crystals insides, so they literallycould consume it, as the story tells us that they do and then the larger rockmonsters had an arm that could move kind of similar to the one from therock writers theme. But the arm in this one actually had a lever on the backthat, if you pulled down it could throw either a rock or different rock monsteror a crystal you name, it so very cool rock monsters and they actually havepretty creative names, which is silly considering how dumb the names of thehuman characters are. Like a really tried hard to give these rock monstersnames so first up, we have bolder rocks. Who was the Green Rock Monster?MELTROCK WHO's, the Red Rock Monster Galaciator? Probably my favorite name, who is the Blue Rock Monster? Sulpurix is Litn Greenns a little bit of adifferent shade of green from bolder rocks. Fi rocks, who is orange Geolixis the big fig version of a Lam Green Rock Monster, and then he had trimerrocks, who is a red, big, Fig Rock Monster? And finally, we have thecrystal King not sure why the King of all of these characters didn't get aspecific name. That's a little bit weird but cristal king is lime, greenand then for the second series, or second year of power miners. We havethe Loveo Monster, so we had combustics who was yellow and black high rack, whowas orange and black and fern rocks, who was red and black and then eruptor, who was orange and black and was a big fig very similar to those other onesthat we mentioned, and he had these crazy flame pieces coming out of hisback. So those are all the characters from the power minors line. So it'sfinally time to dig deep into the power miners sets themselves, so the firstwave of power manor sets was launched in two thousand and nine, the winter oftwo thousand and nine, and this was a perfect time for me to have a lot ofnostalgia wrapped around this theme and I think a lot of people, my age love. This theme is a it just a big love for this theme online and I think that'sbecause lot f people, you know who are...

...now like in their late teens or theirearly ties. They grew up with this theme. They were the ideal age. Forthis theme, it's similar to how my brother, who is almost thirty. Now heloves rock Raders, and he was super excited when I was doing the Rockraders episode because He loves the Rock Raiders Line and he was theperfect age to get the rockvaiter set in one housand, nine hundred and ninetynine- and I was the perfect age Ogat. These power miners sets in two thousandand nine ow. The theme lasted three waves, so onlik rock writers, which wasa one and done theme with only one wave of bucx sets power. Minors actually gotthree individual waves. Now it kind of teetered off to a bit where each way Vgot a little bit smaller, which is something well talk about later on inthis episode, but I do think it's cool that we got three whole waves of powerminers and very similarly, if you listen to the tent episode ofbrickology on Lego, Atlantis Powa Meners has kind of a similar run toAtlantis Atlanta's head two, pretty big waves its first year and then the thirdyear. They had one final wave where they changed up some story, elementsthat go to different location, actually change the colors and the characters, vehicles and stuff, and then it kind of just ended. That's pretty much whathappened with power miners as well- and we will talk about that later on inthis episode. But it's time to finally jump into talking about the power minorsets themselves, the winter two thousand and nine first wave. Thisfirst set we're going to talk about here is thes six dollarthirty one piecestone, chopper. First off, that's almost twenty cents per piece: It'sjust one piece away from being twenty cents per piece awful price. However, six dollars it's essentially an impulse set. So we're not going to complain toomuch about that. I have a specific memory of buying this target back inthe day, and this is an interesting build. It's a small bike, build itactually does have a wheel at the back and then a plastic wheel at the frontand when Hou Roll it along that plastic wheel was attached to two soblay piecesby a technic axle. So it's like a mining motorcycle interesting ideal, primarily built out of some very large technic pieces. It worked pretty well, and I think it was a really really good small set for this power. Minors Line.It included the Duke minifigure and Melttruck, so really solid. Six dollarset, however, for just two dlars more, I think things get even better forthese small power minor sets for eight bucks. With sixty seven pieces, we hadthe mine met. That includes my favorite character, Dr Brains and the bolderrocks rock monster figure, and this is a small MEC bill that had a claw armthat had some biotical pieces being used, and we will definitely talk abouta lot of bianicle pieces throughout this episode and a saw on the other arm,and this introduced us to some very cool new parts for the power minorsline. We have a brand new role, cage piece, that's still being used today onlots of different things for added details and ou construction vehicles,an the city sets and things very useful and cool peace, and we also got thebrand new dynamite piece. I mentioned in my rock cratters episode. Thedynamite pieces and rock raters were just printed tiles, but lego actuallymoded a dynamit piece for power. Miner specifically- and it has still beenused today in other lego themes, so very, very cool- and this was a youknow- a fun little bill, Nice Little Mac mix ar always fun uses those EXOforest biatical kind of fusion style baljoint pieces for lots ofarticulation a pretty solid little set. However, power minors is absolutelykilling it. With these small sets wore just twodoars. More again, we had theten dollar ninety one piece, granite, grinder that included Duke andglaciator. This was a small traded vehicle with a grinding function thatagain use a biotical piece with rubber band. So essentially, what this vehicledid is when you ran the tread on the ground through band, would move thispiece on the front and Mubeck and forth like it', you know drilling or grindingon some rock, really really fantastic small mechanism, especially for a smallset of this sort in this set actually...

...had a lot of playability because itincluded a bucket in the set as well, and that bucket had a chain that youcould hook up to the back of the granite grinders. So hes actuallytransport said bucket. This was a great set. This is seriously a fantastic set,and I think this sets an abnormally fantastic deal. I mean the practorpiece is close to perfect, but it had a ton of big pieces like the bucket theRock Monster, the crystal the big baical piece, the role cage. I meanthis. I think is an absolutely fabulous. Ten dollar set Lego doesn't really maketen dolar sets this good anymore, like this kind of thing would be twenty totwenty five dolar these days, but this is such a good small set. I love thisset and I personally think it's one of the better power minor sets, eventhough it's just ten bucks, so that's it for the small polmaner sets. Now youget on to the bigger boys, we have the one hundred ninety seven piece. Twentydollar set, so almost close to being a perfect pricor piece. We had the clawdigger that included Rek and Sulphurix. This was a big wheeled vehicle that hadtwo claws that could move up and down. There wasn't really a super creativefunction for these. You simply just twisted on a piece and theyul move upand down it's very, very simple mechanism. Lego, definitely, I think, could have done something more interesting for the mechanism with thisset, because there are some truly awesome play features with this power.Minors line- and I personally think this one had one of the weaker playfeatures of the bunch, but this set did introduce us to the power minors wheelsthat are still being used on sets today. Some of the new monkey kids sets thatjust came out to have these same big wheel, part their big chunky plasticwheels. Now I personally don't love plastic wheels because they struggle toroll on heart surfaces, but they did look good and the definitely no kind ofhelpe add to the lore of these paermintor sets having these big kindof Toka truck ask wheels. These are great pieces. This set, though itaesthetically, looks really good, but I think the functionality is a step belowa lot of the other power minor sets, but for thirty dolars from this way wehad the two hundred thirty five piece thunder driller. This had included doc, wrex and fie rocks, and this was a giant underground drill. Supprisse, surprise. The Thunder driller is a drill and yet again a lot of cool newpieces for this rock wraiters. No Power Moners Linea, keep mixing those two upin my head. I definitely mesthose up and the rockwatters episode as well, and I apologize if I keep doing that, but getting back on track. This setgave us the brand new big drill piece for power miners a super great piece, and it also had those big wheels that we saw in the last set- and you knowusually when there's a big drill on the front of a vehicle in Lego. It's alwaysa very simple but effective function. You can move the wheels along and thedrill would surprise surprise it would drill, which is always great and alwaysSuper Super Fun, and this was a cool vehicle, because the drill actually hadan interior where ou could like shovel calls into the Vedocl Thatt. That wasreally cool. Really Nice little interio hat also had a back section as well. They could fit a number of figures. I mean there was really a lot of goodplay ability with this set and I actually remember reviewing this setonm my youtube channel back in, like two thousand and nine when I firststarted Myepu Channel- and I still I wish I had thos set built, of course-that have destroyed great power minor set, but kind of surprisingly this setwas voted as the best power miner set by my fans on instagram. I was prettyshocked by this. You know, I think it's a great set and I understand why a lotof people would love this set, but I was pretty surprised that people lovedloved this set. You know I thought something bigger than a thirtydollarset would have won. The Fan vote choice for best power miners set, but here weare this thirty dollar set denwood did win the vote. So that's pretty exciting. For this. Congratulations to the thunder driller. It is a great set, andyou know I don't hate this decision by my fans on Instagram, but I was justvery, very surprised now for the...

...biggest set from this first winter waveof power miners. We have these seventy dollar four hundred. Seventy four pecebig hoof on the preture piece right there, not a good PPP. This set is thecrystal sweepbird included, Dr Brains, wrex, glaciator and melttrucks. Theonly set from this first line to include multiple rock monsters is thebiggest vehicle from the first wave and it's a decent sized vehicle. It has anice interior bridge that kind of looks like the bridge. You would see on likea tanker boat, very cool taker shift, kind of boat, cool design for thatbridge, and it had a very elaborate play feature a really great playfeature. This thing is called the crystal sweeper because it kind offunctions like a massive underground mining streetsweeper. Essentially, whatwould happen is you could move this vehicle on the ground? It had bigtreads and t ey had this big sweeping kind of Sawblade looking mechanism inthe front that would pick up the crystals and sweep them underneath thevehicle and put them into the back with a big bucket piece. THAT'S SUPER COOL!That's super cool. What a fantastic play feature and speaking of play, features there's also rock monsters in this set with their own bild. This isone of the only rock monster based builds in this entire line. Now grantedit's a very small side build, but the Rock Mo monsters did get a catapult inthis set. It used the rock pieces from the Rock raders line, split in half andon a catapult you could fire both either or one or two didn't matter, butyou could fire. You could launch the catapult and Lotch the rock monsters atthe crystal sweeper kind of a cheesy and silly play feature sure, but it wasfun, it's kind of Nice to see a build for the rock monsters, becauseotherwise they don't get a whole of representation in the buill department. In this line and finally Ford the winter way, the first wave of powerminer sets, we had the special adition Toyser US exclusive, set the bolderblaster with two hundred ninety three pieces. Ind, this set cost twenty sevendollars. I can't think of any other Lego set of the top of my head that hadthis specific price. It was twenty six. Ninety nine, you think they justrounded up the thirty, and it's very odd to me that this set had such an oddprice and also another thing. That's weird. This is the only rock hiter sedthat has a price for piece less than ten cents per piece. A lot of theserock riders said it's power miners. I keep myssonethat up, I'm sorry, a lotof these power minors sets have pretty bad price for part ratios, becausethere's so many. You know big pieces in the set. This one, though, is the onlyset from all three waves of power miners to be ten cents per pieace. Thatnice golden rule for Lego sets in included REX and glaciator. It's kindof like a weird snow plough, loocking vehicle T it had big rubber treads andploughs on the Front honestly looks pretty similar to something you'd seelike on a farm or something of that sort, and it had a dynamite launchingplay feature with flickfire missiles and rubber band is kind of like agatling gun, automacmatic weapon style firing play feature where you couldpull back on a piece. Ord Launch One missile and then the magazine woulddrop down and load up another one. You could launch like four or five dynamitemissiles. Interesting, interesting, build interesting play feature and apretty cool looking vehicle in a pretty nice special edition set for thiswinter wave of rock right, no power minors. Oh my gosh, you guys shouldjust do like a count like a drinking game, take a shot every time like Olymesses up calling this theme rock riters instead of power minersthroughout this episode, because it's getting too bad but we're going to keepchucking along with this thing, we're now in summer of two thousand and nine, and we have the first followup way for powra minors. The twenty doar set withone hundred sixty eight pieces from this wave is the crystal king, the onlyrock monster centered set from the entire line. Also. I still think it'sweird that crystal King didn't have a...

...specific name, but you did get to othermini figures in this set. You Got Duke, however, this Duke minifigure had ahairpiece instead of a helmet which was a bit different, and you also had theREX minifigure as well. Rex was given a backpack in this tep that had kind oflike a big drill attachment on it. That looks pretty cool, so he does have asmall Bild to kind of fight off this crystal king, and this build honestlydoesn't look all that great. It uses EXO force pieces to make kind of aMextyle buill. That's obviously supposed to be, like you know, anactual alive rock monster vehicle and it has a very specialized head mold, but it was kind of skinny. I don't know something about. It. Just looks reallyskinny I would have thougt. You know the King of the rock monsters would belike a Chonky boy with lots of you know, girth to Hem. You Know Lot's of rocksize, but he was kind of skinny and just looked a little bit. Awkward anddoesn't t didn't seem like a great threat to the power miters themselves. So, honestly, I think this chrystial king is kind of disappointment and heuses transparent lime green parts throughout the set, not for thirtyFivedolars, with two hundred twenty one pieces, another bad price or piece. Wehad the rock wrecker. That said include wrex in Geoliks, which is the big figrock monster, which is the ceapest way to get any of these big fig rockmonsters, and this was a very odd vehicle. It's kind of a chunky vehiclethat has an upside down cockpit, with a coffee machine on the inside, which isjust kind of a funny little detail, and it had four big sob blades on the frontand the playfeature with this set was so incredible. It was such aninteresting mechanism that was very simple but incredibly effective.Essentially, you could just roll this vehicle on the ground and the sawblades. We GD, not French, on the ground, to sport, spinning, but thesublades werk kind of slanted and there's four of them. Two on each sideand the ones in the bottom were splanted enough hat thit kind of actedas gears for the ones that are on top an made. Those ones rotate as well asIke, didn't look like it should work at first glance, because there aren'treally any gears or anything but somehow some way. Let go engineeredsomething incredible here. I love the set one of my personal favoriterekcaiter sets that I purchased myself and I loved this Sett also had a netlauncher on the top, which I'm not entirely sure what a net launcher wasgoing to accomplish, because it came with one of the big fig rock monsters. That's just a lot bigger than the net launcher piece itself, so that playfeature might have been a little misplace, but you know I can't you know, discredit like ofor, including more playability with this set, and I have afun little story. Little to tell about this set, I actually reviewed this seton my original Lego, Lee page Youo, probably like what what original LegaLei page? Yes, that is correct. Youve heard me correctly. The original LegoLee page before I had a youtube channel. I actually had a blog. I made a blog onblogger for lego Lee. This was the summer of two thousand and nine. I mademy youtube channel in October of two thousand and nine, but I made this blogthe summer of two thousand and nine, and I did written Lego reviews and Iwas twelve and I didn't know how to write. My reviews were awful. They areso bad. I have no idea if you can still find this bloger anywhere. If you do, Iapologize because it's probably the worst thing you'll ever hear in yourentire life. The reviews are so awful. I believe I only gained like twelvefollowers total or something it was pretty enbarrassing, but I did it andit eventually led to my youtube channel, which is now you know eleven yearslater, led to this podcast streaming on spotifies, so it all worked dout in theend, I'd say so, but just a fun thing actually reviewed this set on myblogger eleven years ago. Okay, continuing on with this second wave ofrockwrater sets in the summer two thousand and nine, we have the big boy,the biggest rock wrider said ever and I kick o the Rock raters. Oh, my goodness,if you guys Hade di been drinking game out of this you're, probably dead bynow, because I just cannot K, stop messing at those. This is such adisaster. I apologize to anyone listin...

...this episode of Bricology. I justcannot keep those names straight in my head. I probably should have separatedthese ones more apart, because I just keep messing it up. Power miners. Thebiggest power miner set was the one hundred dollar seven hundred and sixpiece on their bad priture piece. We have the tytanium command rig. Thissaid included duck Dr Brains, Duke glaciator and Tremrock, the red big FIGand it's a big drill, dreal drill with eight wheels and it had a nice littlebridge at the back and it had an absolutely killer play feature. Yetagain, of course, like you know, you'd expect, with a big drill like a set youpushed along the ground and the drill moves. That's that's fun whatever. However, you can literally take the drill and take Prett much the entirevehicle and flip it up, and now it turns into like a tower based behicle. It goes from being horizontal to vertical, and now you can drill intothe ground. So originally you could drill kind of like at the wall. Now youcan flip it up and drill into the ground. It's a crazy feat of legoengineering to have pretty much this entire vehicle move like that, such aninsane vehicle with a crazy play feature. I wish I had this set. Iconsidered buying this at many times on Ebay over the years, and I really wishI had this particular set now for the summer way. There were a couple ofspecial addition sets as well for fiftydolars with two hundred and fiftynine pieces. Oh that's nineteen cents for piece, that's the easily the worstdeal from this rock power. biner. Sorry, I can't power miners line. We had the targetexclusive cave crusher that include Duke Wrex and a trimer rock big FIG. Itwas a long wheeled vehicle design, with those new big will pieces, but theaalternate version of the big wheels, which were more strircularn, didn'tpoint out quite as much, and it kind of reminds me of like a snake or even acaterpillar, that's kind of what this vehicle reminds me of, and it was aquick but two SOB lades at the front. That, of course, could spin when youpush the vehicle line, a also had a flame thrower, a small but offlanthouer. Nevertheless, at the front as well, which is you know, a bitdifferent for this line and it was equipped with a SAC catapult, you canlaunch a saw blade at the back, not entirely sure what launching a SOBlight is going to accomplish. That doesn't really sen like something Iguess. Maybe it's just for attacking the Rock Monster. I don't know veryinteresting. I think this vehicle personally is very aestheticallypleasing. I think this k pressure looks really cool and I remember alwayswanted to get it, but I was very hesitatd to buy it because of the awfulprice per pieace slightly better Han the pricer peace ran realm. Is thesesix hundred and thirty seven piece? Eighty dolar toys are US exclusive, setthe underground mining station. This set included rex, Duke in a Geolix bigfigure, and a weird thing here duke comes in this set twice legitimately. The Duke Munifigure is included with this set twice. Who knows whyBrikipedia gives their theory that that the second figure is just supposed tobe? You know like a different random generic power minor, but for somereason they include the same figure twice in this set, which is superbizarre, and I can't really think of that ever happening and Lego. Unlessyou know it s course, like an army biltable character. That is so sostrange, thather strange thing. This is the only place set from two thousandand nine for the power miners theme and its kind of similar to the Rock Raidersbase set as well. It had a small bucket vehicle that could transport thecrystals and the playfeature was like a train of events, a sequence of evantswith conveyor, bolts and stuff. That's pretty off the chain. You have a giantwheel, one of those big big technic...

...wheelpieces of the back, which youcould twist that wheel and acted as a Poli system or essentially you couldpull up a little bucket full of crystals from point a to pointb on thisspace drop off those crystals andto like a shoot, and then they go into theshoot and go into the back of the small bucket vehicle. A lot of times. It'llgo too fast and theywould bounce out the vehicle, which is definitelyunfortunate. But it was a very well fought out and cool play featureoverall. Great playability, with this particular set and the other side had asmall little command tower, with a dynamite launcher similar to the bolderblaster set. But this one you just had to flick the missiles yourself. Therewas no special mechanism there. Pretty Cool set, definitely said that I wish Ihad got, and you know I think these underground sets. Lend themselvespretty well to play sets, but placsets are kind of hard to come by withrockwraiters ind power miners respective themes, so that is prettyinteresting. Now we can move on to talking about year, two for Lego powerminers, as I mentioned earlier in the story segment of today's episode year, two, while there's only four cents, basically similar to Atlantis. Imentioned how it kind of changed direction in your to there's a smallfinal way, but a different location, different costumes for your characters, the vehicles color schemes were mixed up a bit. The same thing happens withpower miners and basically the continuation of the story for power.Minors is the minors, go deeper into Earth's cores and thit reach, erstMolten Corpe and they are fighting Lafa rock monsters and the vehicles are nowequipped to fight fire while also mining so a little different andinteresting. I think it was kind of a cool direction and the figures are waycooler in this line. They're, given this crazy heat resistant armor, that'sall in gray and metallic silver and it had some great dvisor pieces and trulylooked spectacular. I love the figures from this wave of power. Miners set thevehicles, they still kept up the same color scheme with the limb green, butthey replace the orange with blue and I don't think the line green and blue mix, quite as well as the orange and baloon not the lagrenan orange did so notgreat on the Color Scheme Department, and now we can talk about the four setswe got from this final wave of power. Minor sets for ten dollars and sixtyseven pieces. We had the fire, blaster included, combustics and REX, a smallwheeled vehicle with a sideways roll cages. Its cockpitwhh Ist, pretty cool, had a large witer tank at the back, and you also had a flick fire missile thatcould fire a stick of dynamite, but there was no real mechanism with thisset. This was not a very good small vehicle set, especially compared to thegranit grinder from just a year prior, not a great set. In my humble opinion,a little bit better is the twenty Dar one hundred eighty three piece set: theMagma Mec. This had included rex and fie recks. It's a big neck Bild, a goodbit bigger than the mind mat that we got the year before and it had two bigarms. One arm had a claw with a very cool function of use, technic piecesand it could kind of extend out. It was a really cool claw. You can grab theFire Rock Monster, it was very cool, the other one had the drillpiece, butin blue, and it was supposed to represent a bigger water cannon. Butagain, no real mechanism here to fire water or anything. It was just all for, looks and had some tubes that attached the back with big water tanks. Thecockpit of this Mektho looked very cool. It used those a formentioned kind ofmetallic silver pieces, even use some shreads in metallic silver for someaddagreeable details, and I thought that this one aesthetically was a verygood build. Overall, the playability, I think, could have been better. I thinke capabilities with the play features here, just weren't amazing, but it wasa pretty cool looking set for thirty...

...fivedollars with two hundred and fiftynine pieces. We have the Claw Catcher, which includes Dr Brenninins, myfavorite character and infirm, knocks it's a big wheeled vehicle with astrange cockpit that used like the dinosaur tail pieces as the rolecagevery weird cutpit build, but this set had a great play feature so almight. Those last two sets that didn't have great mechanisms. This one kind ofhearkens back to the year. One rockright power minor, set sorry yetagain, where it had a very, very cool play feature. You know it's called theclock. Catcher has his big claw on the front and you could pull a thing on theback. The CLOWK could grab a rock monster flip it back and drop it into aprison cell cage in the back of the vehicle, so cool. What a fantastic playfeature- and I think this is one o tbe better sets from this second year forpower, minors and finally, the last power minor set we have to talk aboutis the iconic a Loto trezs. It was fiftyas three hundred eighty one piecesand included Doc Duke firex and the eruptor big fig with exclusive flamepieces on his back that have never been reused to this day. It's the secondpower minors play set and it included a small little bucket vehicle with awater Canon and obviously the name Labatrez as a play on Alcatrez prison, which is in San Francisco, and this was a prison for the lava monsters and, ofcourse, every time there's some kind of prison in a Lego set. There has to bean escape play feature and it's always activated in a similar way. This setyou just push down on a tile and a breaks off one of the walls of theprison. It was a very simple mechanism. A better mechanism in thiy said Thosgh. It had a pretty cool crane. There was like a side build. The CRAN couldactually move from side to side on the top of the build. It could actuallypick up the LAVFA monsters, the small win and the big gone and transport themfrom you know the outside the prison into the inside of this jail, build. That was a pretty cool thing. You could fit a minifigure in there as well userupper bands and some bionical pieces. That was a great play feature with thisset. I really liked that, outside of the base again with the bitacle pieces, they use the Glatorian launcher to fire water balls, which which were theseZamer sphere pieces from bionical, and you know I', like they actuallyattempted to have some kind of fiery mechanism that you know kind ofsimulated firing water. That was a good attempt. I can't fault them, for thisplay feature hen, there's a small platform that had a ladder you could goup to and the platform was equipe with a soda machine. Ive mentioned a fewtimes throughout this episode that there's some weird food based stuffthroughout power, minors and lots of Tarmonor sets had bananas, and you knowthings to eat, which I always found kind of strange. This one had a sodamachine that actually worked. You could put at one hundred dollar bill, Lego, piece and Pushnga thing. It would actually have a soda drop down. It wasgreat, it was great, it was so good. It had a working mechanism, it was small, not super asthetically pleasing, but it actually worked so well. It just feltsuper out of place, though, with the rest of this build. I would have beenmuch better like a city set or something, but it was still a coolbuild, but, as you might have noticed, this whole set is just a hodge podge ofthings it had so many colors because I tried t represent. You know like thelobvery floors, Ha lout to browns and reds, along with the Typical Rock Ripower, miners, colors or Greys, and Greens and Blues that there was toomany colors. With this set, it was kind of a flimsy build. They could have doneway more with the base. So my hot take is this: that kind of sucked itactually wasn't a very good set. I remember buying it and being superhyped to build it and then being very let down that the quality of bill justwhat'sn't, all that good, but that's it y''all. Besides SOM Rigdom, polly Bagas.I don't really think I need to focus on here today. Those are all the Legopower minors sets. I sincerely...

...apologize for just the weird quality ofthis episode. My throat is a bit scratchin today, so my voice doesn'tsound. You know as smooth a as it normally does.
