LEGO Ninjago Rise of the Snakes (2012)

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

In a follow-up to the Ninjago episode from season 1, LegoLee329 continues a journey chronicling all of LEGO Ninjago, specifically focusing in on the sets from 2012; the year that might've seen the themes peak.

Good morning, good afternoon, goodevening, whenever wherever you are listening. Thank you so very much making mea part of your day. My name is leeparmy. Might know me asLego Lee or Lego Lee three to nine from facebook, instagram, twitter,Youtube, patron, you name it, I am all over the Internet andthis is the brick Ology podcast and welcome back today. I really hope youare doing well today. The world is in a very weird place. ObviouslyI've mentioned for like probably ten straight episodes of brick oology about the pandemic andI hope that you are staying safe. But also currently in my country,my home country of the United States of America, there's been a lot ofcraziness happening and I do not want to get political on brick ology whatsoever. This is a podcast about Lego, but I just think, you know,it's something that needs to be addressed. And Yeah, I mean I thinkeverybody knows what's going on and we need to do our best to kind ofhelp and stop things that are happening. I'm not going to really take astance or anything here, y'all, but I just hope and pray that thingscan get better here in my country, and if you're in other countries,I'm sure there's other horrible things that are happening that I'm just completely unaware of. The world is a broken place and I really hope that this podcast.Yeah, it's a podcast about Lego, but Lego is something for literally everybody, unless, I guess, are over ninety nine, because they had thatmeme where it's like, once you turn one hundred you can't play Lego anymore. But I'll jokes aside, lego is for everybody and I want to,you know, make something that can appeal to literally anyone in the entire world. So welcome back to brick ecology. It's episode seventeen. We are inthe middle of season two. It's going great. My streams are doing reallywell. I am just absolutely, so, so pleased with how this podcast hasbeen going here and I'm excited for this episode. Now, if you'vebeen falling brick oology, you know that I alternate each wee we're doing betweendoing a license Lego theme and then an original Lego theme. So last weekwas about Lego Star Wars sets based off episode three, revenge of the sith. That means by the pattern this week is an unlicensed original Lego theme andfor Season One episode six I talked about the first year of Lego Ninjago, all the Lego Ninjago sets that came out in the year two thousand and eleven. This is the sixth episode of season two, episode seventeen overall of brickecology. And you know what, Ninjago is ridiculously popular. It's the mostpopular unlicensed Lego theme out there and there's a lot of Ninjago and I wantto cover all of Ninjago here on this podcast. But covering all of thattheme is going to take a lot of episodes. Like I'm doing star warsby each individual film or TV series or whatnot, I'm gonna do the samething for Ninjago, but I'm going to break it up by seasons or years. So essentially what I'm doing here this episode is going to be called Ninjagotwo thousand and twelve. Now some people call this the third and fourth wayis a Ninjago. Some of might call Ninjago seasons two or three. Disclaimer, I do not watch the Ninjago TV series. I watch some of itback when it first premiered back in two thousand and eleven. I even watchsome of the stuff I'm about to talk about here in two thousand and twelvewhen I was much younger, but since then I don't follow the TV series. I'm not familiar with the TV series Lore. I did some research soI can get you know, my facts right in this episode, but Idon't have time to sit down and watching, you know, an entire season Ninjagojust for one episode of this podcast. So this is going to be aloose representation of the show's knowledge. But I have a good knowledge ofthe Lego sets and obviously you know I've given myself this title of Brick Ologist, I think I'm qualified to talk about the sets themselves. So this episodeof Ninjago is going to be about Ninjago strictly from the year two thousand andtwelve. I'm not going to use season numbers because I know the season numbersget kind of confusing. So essentially I'm going to be doing for brick oologyis I'm going to be doing Ninjago by years. So the next in njagaepisode, which will be in season three, I'm do one Ninjago episode a season, will be Nunjago two thousand and thirteen and then season four Ninjago twothousand and fourteen. I think you guys...

...can catch on to that pattern there. So this is Ninjago two thousand and twelve and that is the topic forthis week's episode of Brick Ology. Now, as I do often on brick ecology, I kind of like to set this scene before we actually talk aboutthe sets from our particular theme. Now, if you want to know more aboutNinjago, listen to my first episode about Ninjago from last season, seasonone, episode six, about Ninjago sets from two thousand and eleven. Icover a lot of the history of the theme in that episode and I don'twant to repeat myself here, and I also did a lot of brick ology. It's a completely unutterly shameless plug to listen to an old episode of thispodcast and that is one of my top five most streamed episode, which isobviously one of the things leading me to doing more and more ninjago episodes. Now I think it's important for me to kind of set the scene for theyear that these sets came out in, and that is two thousand and twelve. I honestly am considering it would be kind of different. But tell meif you guys would like to hear this. An episode of Brick Ology just calledLego two thousand and twelve. Two Thousand and twelve, I think,is probably the best year for Lego ever. It's seriously such an incredible year forLego. Is a pretty crazy year for media and stuff. There wasa lot of stuff going on in two thousand and twelve and Lego and twothousand and twelve was just off the charts. DC and Marvel superheroes were released thatyear, which is humongous. Lord of the Ring Sets, where releasea year, and the hobbit sets as well, which are big for meand my youtube channel. I'll definitely do an episode about Lord of the Ringsand the future of Brick Ology at some point. And then Ninjago. Now, Ninjago obviously premiered in two thousand and eleven, not two thousand and twelve, but I think Ninjago peaked in two thousand and twelve. The popularity ofNinjago and this year was insane. In hindsight it doesn't seem that weird becausein Jago his has been very popular for Lego for almost a decade now.I mean next year you'll be the ten year anniversary of the theme and itwas really big in two thousand and eleven, but I think it exploded in twothousand and twelve to what I would call unprecedented levels. Like these setswere flying off the shelves. They were legitimately hard to find in some ofthe spinners that will talk about later in this episode, specifically the Green Ninjaspinner. I mean that thing was a hot body that was like gold.People found that spinner and people will will scalp them up and sell them forridiculous prices on Ebay. It was really weird because that doesn't happen a wholelot with lego usually. You know, Lego sets can be popular but thenot super hard to find. But these Ninjago sets in two thousand and twelvewere huge. I remember so many youtube channels really jumped on this opportunity, like my channel. Some of my videos from this year got tons of you. My ninjaco videos from two thousand and twelve got so many views and lotsof you. Two channels really just grew and exploded and popularity because of Ninjagoset reviews. It kind of became like a craze and getting the Jadago setsearly at toys or US was like a really intense thing. That was,you know, how you got noticed if you were a Lego youtuber. Iwould say it was a phenomenon. I don't know Ninjago is really much ofa phenomenon anymore. It's still very popular, but you know, things aren't flyingoff the shelves like they were and it's insane. It's just such acrazy level of popularity for this theme. Two Thousand and twelve for Ninjago wasits peak in terms of popularity. Now I don't think it's the best yearof Ninjago in terms of set quality. There's some kind of weird sets thisyear and we're going to talk about them all on today's episode of Brick Ology. But in terms of just pure popularity, people were obsessed. It was absolutelywild. It was like pandemonium trying to get these sets from stores. Now, before we talk about the actual sets, we can talk about thestory shift. So the first season Ninjago the bad guys are Garma Doon, who does return. So garmadon as a consistent villain through pretty much all ofNinjago still today. But the bad guys. The first season Ninjago were those skeletons. The second season, which the name of this season, was calledrise of the snakes, and we get...

...a bunch of snake people and we'lltalk about them throughout all of these sets. Additionally, the Ninja kind of changedup themselves. They were all given new gear pieces the first wave ofLego Ninjago Ninja's. All the Ninja pretty much use the classic Lego Ninja Look. They had updating, no more modern printing and whatnot, but they usethe classic Lego Ninja headdress piece and that's the only time that has really beenused besides a couple of random callbacks in various sets for Ninjago. For thisyear they completely did away with that headgeros piece. They gave them a brandnew Ninja piece and they also gave them a shoulder attachment with Paul drons anda spot on the back that could hold to Katanas, very similar to thepiece from the Prince of Perja sets, and there will be an episode aboutPrince of Persia at some point throughout brick oology and these joe were given thetitle Ninja Z X, which is very interesting. So lots of new piecesand there was a new item to collect. I remember somebody pointed out on thecommon section for my last and Jaga episode that I forgot to mention thegolden weapons. I apologize for completely missing that very important detail in the lastNinjago episode of Brick Ology. So I'm gonna remember this time. N Jagoalways has these maguff and chase items to get and collect throughout the sets, kind of like Atlantis had the keys. Lego does this all the time andfor this one we had the snake steps. It was a brand new snake staffpiece that had a printed one by one circle tile in the center andI believe the circle tile was actually a brand new piece at this point intime. I remember being like really hyped about this piece and it's a,you know, very commonly used piece today and that's kind of weird thinking thatit was actually, you no, brand new not that long ago. Greatpiece, great snake staff and really cool items to collect. And for thesecond way they had these Fang daggers that will talk about there aren't nearly ascool as these snake staffs and the snake staps are kind of weird and repetitiveand you see them throughout a lot of these sets, but those were theitems of chase, actor and collect in these sets. So, without furtherado, now we can jump in and talk about all of the Lego Ninjagosets that came out in the year two thousand and twelve. Now there's alot. There's a lot of products like a release for Ninjago two twelve. There is tons of polybags and things with that sort. I don't really mentionpoly bags here and brick ology because it takes except time. Han't really don'tthink you know, people cared about surproofless details of that sort. So we'regoing to start off by talking about all of the normal box sets. Thenwe'll talk about some of the booster packs and blister card sets towards the endof today's episode. Got It. Okay, cool. Let's jump into the firstwave of Ninjago sets that came out in the winter of two thousand andtwelve. Now, when I say in Winter Two thousand and twelve, it'sactually more so November two thousand and eleven, because I actually got some of thesesets at toys arrest in November of two thousand and eleven, but onbrick set and Briquepedia. They are still counted as two thousand and twelve Ninjagosets, so they count for this episode and like I does that all thetime. I mean, obviously no cars do this to like you know, you can get a two thousand and twenty one model of a car in twothousand and twenty. So even though these sets were kind of released in twothousand and eleven, they still count as two thousand and twelve Ninjago sets. The first set, the smallest set for seven dollars with eighty six pieces.Really good piece count, by the way, is the Venomari shrine. This onecame with Zane. You also got the VENOMARI staff, but there wasno snake figure. Little bit of a letdown that this set had no figurefor Zane to fight, but it did have a pretty neat build. HadA printed snakehead the top with a holder for the Venomari snake staff and ithad this snake launching play feature. They made this new snake piece for thiswave that was a little bit different from the Og Lego snake piece. Ithad more detail and kind of like a King Cobra asks shape, and therewas a cool feature in this set where you pushed a button and it launchedsome of these snakes at Zane. This was a very solid seven dollar impulseset for this first wave. Okay, for fifteen dollars, with one hundredand eighty eight pieces. We had KAI's...

...blade cycle. Of course it includedKai. You also got Ratler, who is a rattlesnake variant for these snakefigures. Very cool. And you got the hip no Brie, hopefully Ipronounce these names correctly, the hip no Brie, snake staff and this set. You might have guessed it. I complained about those all the time andmy lego reviews on on Youtube Channel and IGTV. It came with an oversizedmotorcycle build for Kai and Ninjago. I mean this was not the first oversizemotorcycle. They had one of the first Ninjago. It's not the last oneyou're going to hear about today. Ninjago loves these over sized motorcycles. There'sstill doing like one or two a year, and so many other lego themes havefollowed suit with these ridiculous motorcycle builds. But you did get an oversize motorcyclebuild for Kai. This one. It was really beefy. It washad a lot of cool curve pieces. It looked pretty good, but itwas like extremely large. But it had a very cool transformation play feature whereboth sides could open up to reveal some blades, like some little added weapons, which was a cool play feature and also kind of helped to the lowerof it being, you know, Kay's blade cycle after all. And theside build for this set was a small shrines tided side build that could holdthe hypno brize snake staff. And this it was actually remade for Ninjago legacyjust last year in two thousand and nineteen. However, it looks a good bitdifferent the remake. It'd actually say the remake is worse than this versionand it's a lot smaller or not going to focus on the remakes here, but if any of these sets were remade at some point in the future,I will talk about that throughout today's episode of brick oology. Okay, fortwenty a two hundred, forty two pieces, another very good price for piece. We have Jay's storm fighter, of course, and included Jay and youalso got the snapa steak steak snake figure and this one came with the FanPire snakes staff and this is a jet plane build for Jay that had ainteresting, very similar feature to Kai's blade cycle, where you could push abutton at the back and the wings kind of opened up to reveal some hiddenblades. Not sure how the blades would help this thing fly, because thewings are actually completely chain shape and I think it'd make the vehicle a lotless hero dynamic if it were a real vehicle, but it was a coolmechanism nevertheless, and this was a very good set for twenty. It wasa very large design and I actually bought this set myself back in November oftwo thousand and eleven, and I believe I was one of the first people, if not the first person, to review this on Youtube at the time. It's one of my top ten most viewed of videos ever, with overthirty eight thousand views. That's just an illustration of how popular huge Ninjago wasat this time. I'm this set also came with a small side build ofa shrine that could hold the staff, and this set, like Kai's bladecycle, was remade in two thousand and nineteen. However, the remake ofthis set was actually forty dollars. It had, I think about twice asmany pieces. It was actually pretty solid deal, but it was much biggerthan the original version. From Two Thousand and twelve now for thirty dollars fromthis line with three hundred and twenty seven pieces, another very good price orpiece where offer a good start with the priser pieces for this way, whichis not going to continue. Later on in this episode we had the rattlecopter. Love the name and you can kind of guess what this vehicle is. It is a helicopter for the snakes, and this kind of introduces us tothe snake color scheme. The snake color scheme is lime green, darkgreen and purple, a very striking color scheme. It looks very, veryinteresting and you know what, I don't love it. It's not my favoritecolor scheme. Lime Green, as like the main base color, is abit obtrusive to the eyes if you ask me. But it was bold andthey had some good designs for the snake heads. Now this in particular camewith Kai. Kai had the only side...

...build in the set, which wasa jet pack that went on his back that actually use some snowshoes as littlewings. Pretty cool little jet pack build. You also got fanged sway. haveno idea if I said that name correctly and Le Lloyd or just Lloydgarment down, which will talk more about that character later on, and twoday's episode and you got the Constricto Kai snake staff. I might have completelybutchered that name yet again. This is a cool build that had a coolfeature for spinning the rotors of the helicopter. It looks pretty cool, but againthat color scheme is kind of ridiculous. Now for forty from this first linein two thousand and twelve we had coals tread assault. Forty Bucks, two hundred eighty six pieces. Way That's pretty disappointing because the last set withthirty with three hundred twenty seven pieces. This one's forty was less parts thanthe thirty set. Now I will say I did have this set. It'sa big kind of batmobile ask looking vehicle for coal, a big, youknow, ground based vehicle. It was a large vehicle and I say Ithink forty dollars was a completely fair price for how big the vehicle was itself. But that pressure piece is still a pretty big oof on this set.It included coal, of course, and scales. Very original name for thatfigure in scales was a very cool snake piece. It's the first time we'regoing to talk about these specialized snake bottom leg piece here. Now lego hasdone some specialized leg pieces in the past. No mermaids from the pirates of theCaribbean line from Toy Story Wood. He had those long legs and hissthe first appearance. They have short legs, they have mid legs. Now thereare a lot of custom leg pieces. This one in particular, which theydid use later on a clectile minifigure series for Medusa figure from I thinkseries ten, had a snake bottom leg piece. So it's kind of likea Centaur but instead of being, you know, half horse, it wasa half snake person. All this was a full snake person with arms andlegs. Very Weird, but it was a very cool bottom leg piece. This one came with the hypnobrie steak staff, which we've already seen in this wave. And this was a very striking looking vehicle, lots of interesting anglesand the one thing I never understood, though. It's called Cole's tread.Assault when you hear the word tread you think of treads. Now, technicallyspeaking, vehicles do have, quote unquote, tread on them, so it's nota completely inaccurate name of me wheels have tread on them. This thingwas a big wheeled vehicle. It had big rubber tires and it did notactually have tread. So that was kind of a weird name for the nameof this particular vehicle. I remember one of these names leaked back in theday. I was like, Oh, it's gonna be like a tank forcold that'll be interesting. And then it wasn't a tank. It's just kindof like a batmobile. But it had a very cool play featured. Thecockpit in the center and the rest of the vehicle pretty much could completely spinaround. You could spin around the whole thing and you could disguise this vehicleas a snake vehicle. On the underside it had those lime green pieces,so it was like an incognito undercover vehicle for coal. It didn't wasn't asuper convincing cell, but it looked pretty good and it was a very valianteffort for an extremely different play feature from Lego. That's a cool play feature, even if it's not perfectly executed. The efforts still has to be aplotted with this coals treatissalt set for fifty dollars. From this way, withfour hundred and fifty two pieces, we had the Fan Pire truck ambush. This set included J Zane, Fag Damn and Fing Tom. These were verycool figures. They had again that a four mentioned snake leg piece and theirhead pieces were cool because they had two snake heads each on the end.Very cool looking figures and even though I don't remember a whole about the showand didn't watch it too much, I remembered these characters being pretty funny inthe show itself. And shocker, the fingpire truck ambush came with the fingpiresnake staff and this was another big snake vehicle, one of the biggest snakeit goes. It might be the biggest snake vehicle actually, at least interms of peace count. It was a...

...big snake truck, had the headof a snake and it had some storage in the middle and then a cockpitand then it had a big snake tail. And we talked about the play featureshere. It had a chomping feature where you could, quote unquote, eat the Ninja figures. It also had suspension towards the back and it hada whipping tail feature that we've seen on all sorts of Lego sets from Ninjago, especially like for dragons and such. So overall, a very cool vehicle, and this is a pretty big vehicle actually. Still believe I have thisone built in my collection. And the side vehicle in this set, though, was Zane's vehicle. He kind of got the chaff when it comes tothe vehicle from this way if his vehicle was a very small snowmobile. Askedvehicle that use one of those transparent blue, kind of icy looking pieces at thefront. It looked pretty good, but it was really small. Butactually, kind of strangely, that small Zane vehicle was actually remade in twothousand and nineteen and it was packaged together with the aforementioned Ki's blade cycle set. They came together as one thirty Ninja go set, which I think ispretty interesting. Now let's talk about the biggest set from this first wave ofNinjago for two thousand and twelve, and that is destinies bounty. Eighty sixhundred and eighty pieces. And, oddly enough, of all of these widerelease sets in this first wave, this is the only one I didn't get. I don't remember like collecting these super religiously, but I almost completed thisentire first wave of Ninjago sets for tails on twelve, which is pretty cooland it's a cool collection. I wish I definitely have them in a binsomewhere that haven't been completely destroyed, so I might be able to dig themup, but they're definitely not one hundred percent all together. Now. Thisdestiny's bounties set included Kindo Kai and Zane. The kindo figures are kind of liketraining armor for the Ninja. Awesome new pieces, at least a newhelmet piece, and they use the Old Samurai armor piece from Lego from thes. This set also included since a woo, scales, Slithera and LordGarma down and it came with the hipnobrie snake staff. And this is alsothe first ever incarnation of the destiny's bounty ship from Njago, which Jesse's bountyhas been a very prevalent vehicle for Ninjago throughout the years and there has beenplenty of different versions of this ship throughout. Ninja goes lure and this particular onehad big cloth sales that were also wings, so there's a feature sothey could fold up and there's also a featured that kind of revealed these jetstowards the back of this ship to convert this from a sailboat into a flyingvehicle, which is a cool play feature. And this set is actually getting remadeas we speak. I believe it's available in Europe now for Ninjago legacy. It's like a hundred thirty dollars. It has almost two thousand pieces, but they just remade this destiny's bounty. You can get it now. Soit's being ranked remade for summer. Of Two thousand and twenty. Maybe Ishould get that set. It's really expensive. But would you like to see areview of it? Please tell me in the comments below or sent mea message or something on Instagram if you're listening on spotify. So if youare, you know tell me you like to see a review of that.Said, because I feel like I need a destiny's bounty Mac collection. I'vemissed out on the past few versions, unfortunately. Now there are a coupleof more sets to talk about from the winter wave. We'll talk about thebooster packs in the spinners. Like I said, towards the end of today'sepisode, but there are a couple more sets. These sets were special editionsets, however, for twenty five dollars, with two hundred and fifty five pieces. We had the Fang Pire Mech it included Kendo Cole and the FangSuite mini figure. Now, Cando Cole was advertised as an exclusive figure here, which I find very interesting because you're going to hear his name here verysoon. He actually wasn't an exclusive figure, but he was advertised as such onthe box, but I guess it's just technically his weapon, which wasjust a combination of existing pieces. That was quote unquote exclusive. And speakingof weapons, Feing Suie was equipped with a banana. That would that wasfing squeeze weapon in this set. Now,...

...thanks we does have the the MACwhich is, you know, obviously the main build of the set,but his side weapon that he's holding on the box is a banana, whichis kind of weird. Not entirely sure what what's going on they're also thisset didn't include a snake staff, which is kind of strange to be weird. Of this, like the ones that you got from the line, youdidn't get a snake staff. That's very odd. Also, it's a snakeMech and when I hear snake Mec I would think you'd look like a snake, which it kind of does from the top. It has the big snakehead and has a tail, but it also has the one thing that snakesare like famous for not having, like a pinnedages. It has freaking armsand legs. It cracks me up that Lego made a snake Mac that hasarms and legs. It seems like this would have made so much more senseif it was just like, you know, a big snake, but instead it'sa snake with arms and legs, a bipedal snake with two arms.I don't really know what to say to that one. I did not getthis set. However, for forty we had a four hundred eighteen piece spinnerbattle arena set that came with Kendo Kai and Ratla with their respective spinners. This set include a battle arena very similar to the version that I mentioned inthe episode about leg a Ninjago from two thousand and eleven, but it didhave these cool side builds. There was a dragon head and a snake headthat had like a feature where he could like push down the button and itwould kind of stop and try to get the spinners like off balance and thearena when you were like dueling your friends or whatever. So pretty cool playfeature, and actually the builds for those looked pretty good as well. Italso included a shrine for the Venomari, Van Amari, Van Amari, yes, Van Amari, snakes staff and a small weapons rack as well. Finally, for the winter wave, we had what is probably my favorite set fortwo thousand and twelve Ninjago, the Fang Pire recking ball. Sorry for myawful singing again, like I did this Scooby Doo episode a few weeks ago. This is, though, the Fang Pire wrecking ball fifty bucks, fourhundred fifteen pieces. It was a toys r US resting place, true exclusive. It came with Kindo Coole, who is not so exclusive to that set. He was exclusive to just a minute ago. You also got fing damnand Lloyd Garma Dawn and it was a big snake shaped wrecking ball. Ican't think of too many lego sets to include wrecking balls. To begin with. This is probably the only Ninjaga wrecking ball, at least to my knowledge, and the wrecking ball itself. It was big. He was a tonof big pieces, it had treads and it used the power miners wheel piecesput together to make the wrecking ball. It was a crazy thing. Itwas absolutely humongous, the playability was great and it's a snake wrecking ball.I mean that's just so utterly ridiculous that I loved it. This is mypersonal favorite Ninjago set from two thousand and twelve. Now. One of thereasons one of my personal favorites because I didn't get a lot of the biggersets are about to talk about in the summer, but of all the setsI got personally, this one was the best. But now we can moveon to the summer wave that came out around May June of two thousand andtwelve. Now this wave was huge. This was the wave that really,I think, just sparked a ton of craze for these ninjago sets. Thereare tons of videos about these sets on youtube with hundreds of thousands of views. I remembered there was a kid, I don't remembers, like brick boyor something, who got humongous on Youtube by reviewing these sets and he becamebuddies of mine on sky. This is a very weird little story. SoI got kind of close to this kid and he got ridiculously popular right offthe bat from reviewing these Ninjago sets early...

...and somehow, despite the fact thathe was like twelve, he had money to get all of these sets. But for some reason he decided to quit YouTube. He told me that hecouldn't handle the cyber bullying he was get on Youtube. The trolls were infull force on his videos, so he just completely quit the craft all together. Very weird tale about that. If any of you guys remembered that, please let me know. It was a weird summer. Summer Two Thousand andtwelve was humongous for Lego, and this sets were about to talk about hereare a big reason for it. Also, as I mentioned kind of towards thebeginning of this instead of the snake Stass we got the fan blades, which are just a toothpiece on a light cyr blade with the same printed tileson the underside of the blade. They were not super exciting. Also,I got none of these sets, like I got most of the sets fromthe went your way for some reason. I guess I was just too busycollecting the Lord of the Rings and Avenger sets of the time. I didnot get any of these summer two thousand and twelve the Jocko sets. Lookingback I should have because it would have really helped out my youtube channel, but at the time I did not. The first set they only said thatI don't really think anyone cares about is lashes. Bye Cycle. This wasa twenty five dollar set with two hundred and fifty pieces. It's a perfectprice for a piece which is beautiful to see. This set included lashaw andCole and Lasha was a green snake. Figured had the Venomari Fang Blade andit's an oversized motorcycle, but this time for the snakes it actually worked prettywell. Looks it just kind of looked like a snake, but it hada couple of wheels and it could roll around and in a whippets tail,so not a bad thing. It did have a small side build for coldthat was like a tiny little blacksmith shot with a weapons rack and an anivil, but they're no covering or anything. It was a pretty underwhelming side buildas they come. But you know, got to give credit to Lego foryou know, actually including some semblance of a side build in this set.Now for fortys from this wave with two hundred, no, four hundred andfifty two pieces, so a good price. Sure piece is the Samurai Mech. This set included Samurai X, who was later on revealed to be thecharacter Neia by tar and Snike, not snake Snike, just snake with aneye. It's, of an a very creative name their Lego and at thetime of release, this was the only Lego Ninjag set ever to not includeat least one Ninja figure. Now, the character NIA has since gone onto become one of the Ninja, but at this time she was referred toas Samurai X. This one also included the Constrictochai Fang Blade and it wasa big Mech for Samurai X, and I kind of say this is likethe Og Ninjago Mech. Lego seems to release like at least one Ninjago Mecha year this time, and the mix are all usually pretty cool, andI have a few of them myself. The tide meg that came out toas a nineteen is a fabulous set that I love and have on display inmy room currently. I love Ninjai goes Max and I think a lot ofthose sets kind of owe some credit to this set. This was like theNinjago Meck that paved the way for all other Ninjago Max and had some reallycreative part usage. A good head design that used the prince of Persia kindof dome pieces. That looks really cool and it used the train like railguard, the front of a train piece as shoulder pads. There were somegreat uses of part there was a cannon on the shoulder. This was justall around a really cool set. You also got a side build for yoursnakes. It was a small catapult that could launch the snake figures in bothof these snake figures were on the shorter side. They actually had these shortlegs and you can launch the snake figures at the Mech. Pretty Fun littleplay feature and this was a very popular set that I think a lot ofpeople love today and got quite a few votes. Were as one of thebest sets from this line. Didn't win. We'll talk about that set later onin today's episode, but it did get a lot of mentions. Andthis set was remade in two thousand and...

...nineteen for fifteen bucks. Yeah, you heard that correctly. This forty set was remade for a fifteen dollar setthat's just super small and uses tiny ball joints, kind of weird. Ithink that actually made a lot of people mad. Personally, I don't reallymind them making small fifteen dollar Mex sets because I love small Lego sets there, you know, cheap and kind of impulse buys. But I can seewhy people would want a new version of this neck because it's so cool, and they did make a new version, but the new version is way smallernot nearly as cool looking, so that is kind of a letdown. Okay, it's time to talk about the two big boys from this wave of Ninjago. These sets were ridiculously popular. They're still popular today and the kind ofpaved the way for future ninjago endeavors. For Eighty dollars, with six hundredand twenty two pieces, we had the ultra sonic radar. This set wasthe first Ninjago set from this way to include all four Ninjas that were equippedwith their golden weapons that we saw from the season. One NINJAGO sets intwo thousand and eleven. So you got Kli j Cole and Zane. Withthis set you also got spita and the snake villain titled Pythor p Chum's worth, very funny name for that character. What is called Pythor for short forthe rest of the day's episode. In this was a big vehicle, oneof the bigger ground vehicles for Ninjago at the time. It had some bigtreads at the front and at the back it had a big wheel, sohad like two sets of treads and then one big wheel towards the back, giving it kind of like h is shape, more like a tea cross shaped vehiclewith a very big wheel at the back. And this thing was packedthe brim with weapons. There were weapons all over this vehicle design, givingit a very striking and intimidating look, and one part could detach, makingthis a fly ying vehicle as well, and some wings could foot off fromthat. And it was actually a very good tune, one where the secondvehicle looked pretty good in the all the original vehicle also book pretty solid withoutthat vehicle on its back. And yet again, this is a widely popularrelease set. They kind of remade this set, more revamped and, Ibelieve, in two thousand and sixteen, not a directory megas, I don'treally count it. It's not a Ninjago legacy set, but a very coolvehicle, lots of great playability features, and this one yet again got alot of votes for the best set from Ninja go two thousand and twelve, but it didn't win one. Set One, and that is the next set we'regoing to talk about, and that is the epic dragon battle. Thisset retailed for one hundred and twenty dollars, making it one of the bigger Ninjago sets at the time. It had nine hundred fifteen pieces, nota very good price your piece. But this set included the Green Ninja who, briefly at the time, was exclusive to this set, and the GreenNinja was the aforementioned Lloyd, and this is like the big revealed that Lloydwas the Secret Green Fifth Ninja, was a big storyline plot point in thatseason of Ninja go as well. In addition to Lloyd, you also gotJ since, a woo, acidicus scalator and Chomkins, some very cool snakefigures as well, and this set lives up to its name epic Dragon Battle. It actually is a battle. There were three builds in this set. There was a decent size snake shrine include with this set that could hold theFang Blade, but you also got the great devour, which is like themain snake villain, which is a big snake build, which is pretty cool. And then, of course, you got the ultra dragon itself, whichwas a foreheaded white and green dragon, and the foreheads were the heads fromall the dragons we saw with the two thousand and eleven Ninjago sets, whichis pretty cool. And these dragon heads are all recolored in white but stillhad a semblance of their original color,...

...making them very unique. And thisdragon had a handle at the back for easy playability. You could pick itup very easily and even had a feature to flap its massive wings. Thisthing was a pretty crazy design and kind of oddly, this set was remadein two thousand and nineteen and ironically, the remake was a smaller set.It was an eighty five dollars set but actually had more pieces at nine hundredand fifty one. Now the remake was just the Dragon. The shrine andthe great devour were not remade. Just the dragon was remade and instead ofusing the big rubbery dragon head pieces, they use in this twiols and twelveset. They brick built the dragon head pieces for that year. It wasa very cool set, though. I kind of want that said. Maybeif I see it on sale or something at some point, I might actuallyhave to pick that one up because it's a really cool set and a set, like I said, was voted on by my fans as the best Ninjagoset of two thousand and twelve. You know, I think there's some toughcompetition for it, but it's definitely a cool set and it's very striking andunique and there's a ton of stuff going on with this set. So Ihave no issue with this set winning that title. So that's it for normalbox sets. Now we can talk about the spinner and booster pack sets. Now I could spend hours talking about each spinner outlooks on the specific accessories andcards it comes with. I don't really think any of you guys want toknow that information. If you want to know more about these spinners, justtake out check out brick set or Bickapedia to about biggest sources that I usefor this podcast when writing the scripts. But let's talk about the spinners now. The spinners were a hot commodity at this time. They are flying offshelves. It was hard to find these spinners at toys or us. Theyreally like seriously flew off the shelves. People were scalping them and selling themfor a lot more on after markets. Now let's talk about these spinner sets. There was a box spinners set for twenty with two hundred and nineteen pieces, the spinner training set. It came with Kendo Kai and his spinner andit had a small training wall and it had a weapons wreck. That's aboutit. Not a whole lot going on there. Twenty Bucks, two hundredand nineteen pieces. Let's move on. You also had the starter set, which was a blister pack, which was pretty much the exact same concept asthe starter set. That came out in two thousand and eleven. That twothousand and eleven shirt set did wonders for me, over a hundred thousand viewson Youtube Channel. I'd not get this second starter set because I wasn't abig collector of the spinners. But this starter set here came with twenty.Twenty set had sixty two pieces and it came with coal and rat law ontheir respective spinners. Okay, those are kind of the outlier sets for thespinners. Now there are the ten dollar spinners sets that are all in blisterpacks and we're going to read off all of the names here. We hadKAI Z X, lasha, Kendozane, snapper, Samurai X, easier wayto get her from her original. The bigger set we had fing Swie SpitA, Fing Damn Slithera and then Lloyd Z X, which is the iconicGreen Ninja spinner. This green enche spinner was like the holy grail of Legosets at this time. It was Hu Mongos. People were chasing after thisspinner set. It was hard to come by, it was hard to get. Luckily, I actually got one of these Green Ingcha spinners at toys arrests, like when they first put it out on shelves and I reviewed it.I'm pretty happy with that and I actually was able to get one of thesesets. I remember people were like fighting over this thing, paying like seventyfor it on Ebay, and the prices of these spinners now sealed in Ebay, is still extremely high. Crazy, crazy thing and I'm not really surewhy Lego did away with the spinners in two thousand and thirteen want to talkabout in the next episode of Lego Ninjaga, which will be a very interesting onein season three of brick ology. Now there are a couple more spinnersI want to mention. These are the...

ARG spinners. These ones came withcompletely exclusive figures of the Ninja in their quote unquote, Arg form, notenergy. It's just the letters in our Ng which is also a company thatsponsors the Houston Texans football see him. But the Narg spinners, and thesewere basically like the Ninja, but one elemental color with some really cool printingto kind of show off that element. That had some metallic kind of detailshere and there. These were really fantastic looking spinners and I collected all threeof these. We got Narg J who was completely blue look really cool.Energy coal was completely black with some orange highlight details, and NARGE ZANE waslike a sky blue with some white details and Jay's details were added on andkind of like a limeish green. Really fantastic figures. And finally, fortwo thousand and twelve Ninja go sets, we have the booster packs. Ibelieve this is the only year that ever got lego Ninja go booster packs theywere five dollars each and they were essentially the spinners sets the spinner. Soyou just got a small little booster that was like a small plastic bag.You could open it up. You got five trading cards, you got amini figure and you got a bunch of accessories and weapons that you could equiponto the spinners and the figures in the spinners. But there were no spinners, but it was an easy way to kind of expand your spinner collection. And the booster packs were Kindo Cole Lloyd Garma, Don Jay Z X,Zane Zx Mesm byt our, Lazaru and Kendo J that was a shot athome Promo back and the day. So those are all the booster packs andthat's it, y'all. That is all for Ninjago two thousand and twelve,Ninjago season two.
