LEGO Toy Story

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

On this weeks episode of Brickology, LegoLee goes into the world of LEGO Toy Story, breaking down the theme and the inception of the franchise and studio that made it.

Good morning, good evening, goodafternoon, we'reever wherever you are listening, thank you so much frinkingme a part every day my name is liparmy. Migt know me as Legole or Lego LeeThreetwo, nine from instagram facebook Youtube Twitter Patrion, you name itI'm all over the Internet, and this is the brickology podcast, the study ofsmall plastic bricks. How are you guys doing I'm having a great day? I hopeyou are as well and I'm really excited, because this is the fifth episode ofBrick Ology we're halfway to ten we're in full swing with brick ology rightnow. I want to a really quick little recap. You might have noticed that Idid not make an episode of Brick Ology. Last week I did go to Nashville for awedding, so I was busy. I have somewhat of an excusees, not lake. The Disneyword excuse where I was literally just you know, having Fon by myself, but Ido need to make a quick announcement, but before Ma te cook an ousment, Ineed t mae at out of quick announcement. I've received a ton of great feebackfrom you guys about brickology, and I really appreciate that, if you give mefeedthat for this show, that is fantastic, a lot of it. Most of it hasbeen very positive, but I have gotten some very good, constructive criticismand I really appreciate that and one of my friends really good friend of mineliterally just came out and said Lee. Your introws are long and clunky andKINDOF awkward, and I was like you know what you're right I tend to kind ofjust I don't know not really get to thepoint very quick and like the tease things and Alwas like you might becatching on to what I'm saying, even though it's already in the tile, theepisode and people know what I'm about to say. I'm going to stop doing that.Hopefully, by the time I have you, know, fifteen these episodes out or somethingI'm just very natural with this, and I have some kind of quicky and fun andsnap by Intro. Right now. I really don't and the Inter for this episodesnot going to be super snatty, because I need to kind of preface what I'm aboutto say. Essentially, I'm going to work ot, making the intros better. I need tohave something easier way of introducing myself and the show withoutit going on for too long and I'm not going to just drag things out longerthan they need to go. Also, though, the second big announcement is the reasonthere was no brick alergy last week, and there won't be one next week isbecause brick ology is now going to be a by weekly podcast. Now I got somenegative feedback. This annoucen I mean they not son of my instagram earlierthis week, people you know, we re responded with lots of sad face, emogies all that stuff yeah. I know it sucks, I'm sure if I were a listener atthis podcast, I want it to be every week. However, going into this, I didnot know how much work one episode of a podcast was going to be because youknow the podcast ar you know forty five minutes to an hour long. Each which isa lot of recording time, but then also Hav to edit that audio ace to makegraphics thumbnails and, more importantly, I have to write my shownotes and scripts, which requires a lot of research, and I'm doing this all bymyself. It's just me. I have literally no one else, I'm sure there ar otherbig podcasts out in the world where they have tons of people doing thingsfor them, but in my case at least for the time being, it's literally justlegaly baby, I'm the only person working on brickology. So it's a lot ofwork and I feel like I wish pushing myself too hard to have a new episodeevery week, because Brikalogy's not the only thing I do for like Oli, I make adaily literally daily, if not multiple times per day, post on instagram thoseposts are all very detailed and highly edited in those take a while ihavemakelots of reviews on my youtube channel. I'm doing a lot of stuff for thisaccount. So doing one of these podcasts...

...every week was just proving to be toomuch work, and I was overworking myself and I want to ensure that brick ologyis an extremely high quality product and I don't think it's going to be highquality if I rush out a new episode every week, so by making brick ology byweekly. That gives me more time to kind of marinate and focus on that episode.Ton Make It as good as possible, instead of rushing out the episodeinstead so brickology. Unfortunately, it is going to be by weekly that tmeans we still will get either two to three episodes or brick ology a month, depending on the length of the month. So you're still going to get a lot ofme just not quite as much, but I think it's going to prove to be a very gooddecision, because that means the episodes of brikology are going to beeven better than they were before. Okay, that was a four minute long intro nextweek or two weeks I promised the Inter will be more snappy and much better, but I did need to make that announcement to kind of explain myself, but now, let's dive into this week's topic for brickology, so here at brick,Ology, I want to keep things fairly topical and what's more topical than abrand new movie coming out this weekend. So this weekend onward, the NewestDisney Pixar film is being released in theaters. Now lego did not make any setsbace off on ward, it's pretty much irrelevant to Lego, but it is a brandnew Pikar film. So I was like hmm, this EACEPTEDA brickology. I could do like apixar, but there's a lot of Lega Picar stuff they've made sets, I think, baseof at least five different pixar movies. So instead I decided to do this episodespecifically about the first ever Lego, Pixhart theme, and that is toy storybefore we dive into the history of Lego toy story. Let's talk about the historyof Toy story, the franchise itself, and we can't really talk about the historyof the toy story franchise without talking about the history of thecompany that mad the toy story, films- and that, of course, is the iconicPixar. Now Pixar, I think, has such an interesting and rich history as acompany. You know not pixars on by Disney Theyre, this big deal. Theyrelease a film or two every single year, they're, always winning awards makingbillions of dollars at the box office. But this film got just about thesmallest of starts imaginable and I think it's super interesting, not Pixar the company. As we know what today was founded in the year, one thousandnine hundred and eighty six by Edwin Catmil and Alvy Ray Spith Smith, thesSmith. Sorry, now, additionally, some funding came from this. This guy, hisname was Steve Jobs. You might have heard of him. He also Co. Foun at thiscompany called Apple in the so Steve Jobs was actually a majority shareownerin Pixar and one of the founding members of this studio, which is crazyto me that not only he found an apple which is like the biggest company inthe world, but he also helped filent found one of the biggest animationstudios in the world as well. But PIX ARE INE hunded n eighty sixis whenPicxar became its own company, but it's actually not really. When pixs areformed, it actually originally started as a computer animation. Division ofanother company, you might have heard of called Lucas Film Lucaswon, ofcourse, created by George Lucas, makes e Star worsing and Jones lots of othergreat movies. We Love Lucas Film. This is ot a star warks episode though, butof course Lia Lees always going to throw is shameless plug to mention starwars at least once and every episode of brickology I swear, but one thousandnine hundred and seventy nine is when Pixar was made a computer animationdivision of Luke's film and then it spun off into its own company. Sevenyears later in eighty six. Now their first original short film was releasedbefore they even spun off from logoos film. This short film was Kuttered, ut,titled, sorry, I'mmis speaking a lot today, titled The Adventures of Andreand Wali B. This was released in one thousand nine hundred and eighty four. Now a lot of people don't know this is...

...even the first Pi our short film. Ipersonally have not seen it. I was kind of unaware of this film's existence,I'm sorry to say until I started doing my research for today's episode, butthe second pixor short film, which is what the one I originally thought watstheir first Shart Film and is a very iconic animated short film that cameout in one thousand nine hundred and eighty six, the first year that picksour spin off from Lucas film is look so junior. Now you might not recognizethat title right off the Bat. I don't blame you it's! You probably haven'tseen this AL though Luxko junior is on Disney plus, and it's like Woneman andthirty seconds. So if you have didnet plus description, I woull definitelyrecommend watching this just for the history. But look so junior is thestory of that lamp, and you probably know what I'm talking about now, because Pixar and the lamp are likesynonymous. The lamp is literallythe Mascot of Pixar and I can't really think of a sound effect. That's moreiconic for like a movie in Troma. Besides a tentyenth century Fox Fan,far music, then the Pixar lamp to the WO B. Moki'm, pretty sure you guys canhear that image. The image of the lamp jumping on top of the ball and squisiongoot, making the eye in the PIXOR insho for all their movies. I mean it'siconic, it's seriously iconic, so luxso junior is the first pixor short film astheir own company. Now that e no longer part of Lucas, film and Luxso juior hasnow become the mascot for Pixar. In one thousand nine hundred and eighty sixnow picsar did some short film, some of their random things. Tarout these yearsthey had that tensios tin soldier film. That guy actually appears in toy storyfor, but that's kind of. Besides the point we're going to skip ahead almosta decade to the year. One thousand nine hundred and ninety five. This is beforemy time I wasn't even born yet bu N, one thousand nine hundred and ninetyfive pixar releases. The first ever feature length, theatrical threed andin e movie, and it's a little movie called Toy Story. Now, if you look backon the animation, a toy story here in two thousand and twenty, it LooksPretty Archaic and very ugly and Weird and there's just some kind of uncannyvalley stuff going on he inimation. Isn't it doesn't look great now, butthis was the first ever completely computer generated thred animated filmreleased in theaters, which is crazy. I mean, I think, Fetti tails came out onnny three. That was a show hat's a little bit different. It's SOMT thefirst ever and like you know, big three animate thing, but for feature films. It is toy story. Is it's become? You know pretty much animation. Now wedon't really get to Te animation anymore, except for me, like anime, sothreet animation, this, like huge medium, that t t produces tons and tonsof films a year was started with toy story all the way back in one thousandnine hundred and ninety five. So Toy story is not only important for Pixar. It's just important for film in general, completely change the medium like it'sa pretty influential film and of course it's an iconic and great movie. Now Icould spend the next three hours just babbling on about pixars history andall the movies and shorts and awards and things they have done. I'm notgoing to do that because this is not a pixar episode. It's a toy story, specific episode, so we skipt forward four years to t e Er, oethousand, ninehundred and ninety nine and picture makes their first ever sequel. Theirthird film in general. Abug's life is the only movie in between toy stories, one and two, but of course, Toy Story to is released N, one thousand nineHunde and ninety nine. This is one of the first movies I ever saw in theaters. If you listened to these first episode of brickology a few weeks ago aboutstar wars episode, one of the Fantom minutes I mentioned the first movie Iever saw in theaters- was starwars episode on the Frantin minutes, whichalso came out in the year. Ninety nine, but then toy story. Two was one of thenext movies. I saw in theaters that year and Toy Story. Two in my opinion,is the best toister movie they're all...

...great, but I think it's the best one,it's the most iconic to me, and I have so much Nostalgra wraped around thisfilm, the playstation game or the intended and sixty four toyswor twogame. I literally still play that game today on my sixty four love that game. This movie just means a lot to me. I absolutely adore this film now the one additional piece of informationabout Pixar as a company I need to mention before we talk about toy storyor the rest of this episode is that Pixar in the year two thousand and sixwas purchased by the wall Disney Company. Now you know Disney pic ar skind ofsanonymous. Now it's been fourteen years since this merger, itseems kind of weird that you know I actually thoesthem six as hone of haspurchase because now just seemed like everything, Pix or is Disney related. But two thousand and six was the year that the first cars film came out.Disney purchased Pixar for over seven billion dollars and all these shares inPixsar became shares in the Wale Disney Company. So that's a very importantthing to mention, because pixer has become more disneyafied since it waspurchased. The quality of film has dipped. Just a little bit, there's beena lot more sequels and stuff, including twoso toy story, sequels that we'regoing to talk about in this episode here and just a second, so I wouldn'tsay Disney Ruin Pixar. They still have made some great great great films, butit definitely made it more commercial than it was now skeping forward to theyear two thousand and ten a whole eleven years after toy story to wefinally have a concluding film in the trulgy in Toy story, three released inJune of two thousand and ten a toy thrty three. When it came out, it brokethe opening weeking record for an animated movie, a d I believe it cambecame the highest grossing animated movie of All Time. At the time of it'srelease, I'm pretty sure the incredibles to has breaken broken bothof those records since then, but it held those records for a while. It wasa big big deal. Untisn't tin is the first year that Lego jumped on the toystory game and will elaborate more on that in just a minute. Now, Kit forranother nine years, almost entire decade, and we got toy story, for whichkind of concludes the series. Again, I don't want to get into spailers, because the movie is still fairly new. Just in case you haven't Gote a chanceto see it, but it kind of concludes a series again. It definitely wasunnecessary and very Disney cash, grabby sequel, but they still made avery good good film out of it now speaking of good films, the Toy StorySeries is one of the best reviewed movie series of all time. Every movingthe series has at least a rating of ninety eight percent on rotten tomatoes, including the first two movies, both having the elusive one hundred percentapproval rating. THAT'S INSANE! That's wild! I mean you know ratings formovies, like you know some moieis getting. Seventy five percent isconsidered a very high rating. The fact that all of the toystory movies haveninety eight percent or higher literally like an APLUS grade for allof them all four. I ean that's a lot of movies. That is a ridiculous statisticand so so impressive. I actually remember in two thousand and ten toystory, three had one hundred percent and then some beffoon gave the movie anegative review and he got absolutely roasted online for that it was a prettyfunny time because yeah, I don't really know how someone could watch toystoryand tree be like wow. That was a bad movie that just kind of cracks me yeah, but crazy. Good reviews for these movies toy stories. Three and four havewon the Oscar for best animated feature: Film, the First who didn't win Oscars, simply because there was no award for Enmite fuature film, that Aword wasintroduced in two thousand and one and Shrek wit, the first winner of thataward actually nearly two decades ago, so they have one those awards theyv theblast. Two movies have also grossed...

...over a billion dollars each of the boxoffice. This is a massive movie franchise. There's rides of it atDisney world, which I just went a few weeks ago. I mean seriously. Toy Storyis a humongous franchise that has spawn so so so much for Disney and Pixar overthe years. So it's only logical that it would be heavily merchandised and ittook a while it took way longer than you might think, but in two thousandand ten lego finally jumped on the Toy Story, bandwagon now, I'm sure in thefuture of brick ology. I will make a Disney centric episode of thes showwhere I dive deep unto the history of all the products Lego has made basedoff Disney properties in the past, and it's kind of a weird and complicatedhistory and Lego. Just really didn't do a ton of Disney stuff before the stuffim about to mention, but they did make some weird du Plose hets in the s andsome random things here and there. But the year two thousand and ten is kindof like the first big big year, FOM Likeo Disney. Now I'm not talking aboutLeco Disney. Today, I'm talking about like a toy story, so I need to hone injust a bit. But I do need to mention that two thousand and ten is the firstbig year for like a Disney. They made the Prince of Persia set OAS, Ie Disney, live action, adventure film and then they made the toy story set and sincethen there's been a lot more stuff based off different Disney propertiesin the future. But tis'Ntin is kind of like the unofficial. It's not theactual birth yeater of the Lego and Disney partnership. But it's the firstyear that it really took off the ground and it's the first time we got toystory sets now. The first way Liga Toy story sets were released in the winterof two thousand and ten. This just so happens to be. Like the beginning of mychannel, I made my youtube channel in October of two thousand and nine solike I'm currently twelve years old of the time of these sets coming out, Ireviewed a lot of these set on my channel. Those videos are absolutelyhorrible, but if you go likale through cou on a youtube, I'm sure you can lookup and find my old toy storyset reviews. They are laughably bad, but I do have alot of staug around this theme. ATS, crazy. This thing now is an entireteccade old, so the first wave AF set is a release in the winter of twothousand and ten now TCAU. Something Lego has done before and actually afterthis theme is that the new movie Toy story, three was coming out in June oftwo thousand and ten and I'm sure Lego thought about this. Strategically. Theywere like okay. If we weelease toy story, three sets people are probablygoing to be upset that we don't have sets based off the original toy story.Films, so Lego very intelligently decided before the toy story. Threesets they were going to make sets based off the original two toy story. Filmsdo kind of preface and lead up to the eventual wave of toy story. Three setsthe same thing has happened with themes like the hobbit before the Hobbit setscame out. They made a small little wave of Lord of the ring, sets do kind of bea precursor to the hobbit sets I really like thit like I did this it's great, because if we just got toy story, three sets butup ben kind of awkward. Itwould have been cool to have toy story sets, but I wouldn't made me wish thatwe know we had set based off the original toy story- films which meanyou know more to me because they're older and I actually grew up with themas oppose a toy story. Three, so luckily lego actually did that and theymade an original wave of toy story sets. The first wave is kind of a mixbag, because there's some stuff, that's based off the quote: Unquote ExpandedUniverse. A toy story is not really nixpanin universe, but there kind of isand then there's some stuff. That's like not really based off specificscenes from the movie, but like scenes and within scenes a movie, it's hard toexplain. They made no sense, but oxs went it here and just a minute. Thefirst toy story set an elevendollar, not ten. Eleven dollar set kind of aweird price for this set is the army...

...men on patrol, so army, Manon patrolincluded four army men, many figures, three of them were the same, and one ofthem was in medic and they all had different weapons, and this was a verycool set. It as a small eleven dollar set very, very similar to like a starwars, battle pack in the type of set that it was, and this set here was thefirst time Leego made a semi, realistic war style, helmet pieace. Now I'vementioned in brick alergy before that Lego is so so anti war. They don't wantto make any realistic, looking wepmens and things of that sort. However, withthis set here, they made some very specific war style pieces. Mainly thehelmet of the helmet was a very bright green color, of course, represent thegreen army man. So it wasn't super realistic, but it's a piece that a lotof Lego, customizers of word war, two scenes have used for their mocks in thefuture, including myself. I actually made a DDA mock back in the year twothousand and ten, and I specifically remember using this piece now. Thesegreen armymen figures have never come and they sait after this beside orsmall polly bag, very very cool figures. They had a completely custom pieace fortheir like army. Man Stand it's extremely cool, great, very, veryunique Mani figures, and the build of this set here was a small kind of jeepbuild and it was a a pretty good ceep build and ther was, you know, kind ofit, a Gatin, a very bright green, but a pretty good design that coulddefinitely easily be modified into something very war. centric, so kind ofsurprise, Lego even touched this, because Legois so anti war, they don'tlike making worse stuff, but here we are with this very know. Obviously it'sbased of green armymentoys, but it's still kind of you know, invokes theviolence of war and some ways in a very kittish way, and I'm actually kind ofsurprised lego decide to make this into a set. The next Toy stor set a twentyolar sate with ninety two pieces, bad price, but I think one of the best toystories sets that's ever been made was Woodi and Bos to the rescue. Now theset here had woody and buzz, of course, and it came with the rocket fireworkthat sid the villain of toy story, one hooked them both up to and of course, came with RC car. This RC car is a great design. Tons of really coolprinted pieces still halt up today looks really really good and the reasonthi set was so expensive is because RC had a pollback motor. I Miss PullbackMotors Man. Lego. Has I put a pull bact later going to set in years? I lovethem they're, so much fun. I mean it's a very, very gimmicky and kitty playfeature, but especially as a younger kid I loved pullback motors andliterally, I have gone to storse like target and God and some pullbat motorcars and like rased, my friends through the Isles of target with some pullbackmeter cars little embarrassed to admit that, but it's Super Fun and I lovethis set. It still holds up. Well today, the RC car looks fantatic the minifigures in the rocket. It represents the scene from the first toystore movie, very well, fantastic, fantastic, absolutely brilliant toy story set fromthe first way en two thousand and ten. Now the next two sets we to talk abouthere are kind of like a weird theme. Within the theme, it's like a subthemeof toy story, the construct, a Zerg in a construct of buzz set. Both thesesets here or twenty five. A coustructo Zerig was an exclusive, I think, toeither toys ar us or Walmart. I'm not NTI sure I came er work he wasn'texclusive to, but both sets were very cool. They were like these brick builtversions of the characters. Now they, the buzzz version, had a veryspecialized piece for his head, of course, and he specialized peace forhis like dome over his head. Those are some pretty cool pieces. Zerog actuallyused mostly existing like a parts besides little horn piece on top of hishead, all the pieces were printed, it all lookd, so good, really really cool.Awesome idea for these sets remember the buzz. One was a little bit finickyand fellapart a good bi, which is a little unfortunate, but the ser one wasabsolutely spectacular and still looks...

...really good to this day and both setswere actually the cheapest set at the time that included a figure of theiconic toy story. Alien, so very cool sets great figures, great displaypieces, and I really wish I still had both of these built in that collectionand continuing, along with the buzz light year, theme that this first wayof toy story sets really honed in on. We had buzz light year, Star Commandspaceship a thirty dollar set. Now this set wasn't really based off the toystory movies. You could kind of debate it spaced off the first scene of ToyStory to whan an iconic amazing first scene to that movie, or it's also basedoff of buzz light years box that he comes in in the first Hoy story, alsoseen in toy story to as well. But bricipedia says this set here is basedoff the Buzz Light Year of Star Command. Show. First of I remember watching thisshow a little bit when I was really young. I love this show great show. Iwould love to see a buzzlight year. A stark command movie that'd be awesome.Pixar, please do that. That would be phenomenal. I would love to see TimAllen and Buzzli Year have his own star command. centric movie. That's besidesthe point, though this Isa, thirty dollar set. The only said ever thatcame with a Zerg minifigure and it was based off the buzzligh. Yeur StartCommand spaceship the shape of his box and my fans on instagram voted this asthe best lego toy story set of all time. Now, in my opinion, I don't think it'sthe best set there's. I said I'll mention here in just a minute that Ithink it's a little bit better, but it's a great set. I had NOSTOCHA forthis set. I reviewed this set. Unfortunately, I was a dumb shout and Idestroyed this set. I might order again on Ebay or something because I lovethis set, and I love the exyric minything that Zerciny figure isabsolutely phenomenal and then, finally, for the first wave of toy story setsthe biggest set. The fifty dollar set of this wave here was woodies roundup.Now. What he's roundup, of course, is the name of the show that sheriff woodyis based off of in the toy stor universes like a fifty styles, Westernsereal type, show and that's what Woodie is from so this set is based offa movie, but it's actually a set based off of a TV show. That's in a movie. Ithere's like bunch of different levels. It's a toy based off a show, that'sactually a fake show that exists in the universe of a movie. Yeah, that's a lotto take in. I don't have this set, it's the only set from this first wave Ididn't get, and I really regret it man. I really do because this is anabsolutely phenomenal set great, build great many figures at the time torelease Jesse and Bullzi or both exclusive, and I really want a Bollsifigure. I don't have one, and I really want one- and this is the only set everto include the prospectore Kelsey grammars characters, Stinky Pete, whata great villain of Toy Story to it's a great set- and this is a western Southset- and people love Western stuff. You know like a Lon Ranger, another Disneything that came U to than thirteen was so popular because of all of itsWestern stylings people. Love sets that are based off of Western style things, and this set was really popular and I really regret buying it to this day,but maybe someday I'll have to do an ebay purchase and Jo Shell, the bigbooks to get this set, because it's that good of a set, so that's thewinter wife that is the wave of winter toy story set, and then we jump to thesummer wave of sets. Now I actually mentioned in my clone wars video lastweek about the box, art change, so there actually was a box art change forthese toy story sets as well. The winter way with toy story sets theboxar kind of had that iconic Andy's room wall design where it's you knowpretty much as like a light sky blue with clouds. That's what the box lookedlike the toy story. Three sets had a very plan, very, very plain design, noites, pretty much just white with the toy story, logo and Lego actuallyrepackaged the sets to fit the toy story, three setting, which is kind ofodd, not really entirely sure why they...

...did that, because I might prefer theAndy's room style of because opposed to the toy story, four ones, but whateverit doesn't really matter now. The summer wave was mostly sets all, butone of the sets were based off toy story three, but we did get a storeexclusive pizza planet truck. I said I did get. It was a really big truck toscale with the toys themselves, a big pizza planet truck. It was fortydollars. It had buzz an alien rex and Ham. I believe- and this set is a setthat I mentioned- that I think is the best Lego Toy storie set of all time. This is a fantastic set. It looks great. It still holds ut believebable to todaygreat design, really cool, shaping creative use of parts. It even shotfreaking pizzas, out of the front, which makes no sense, but whatever itwas a fun play feature, especially for me, the time, as you know, a very youngperson, so a great set, in my opinion, the best set that again, I was dumb anda child, and I unfortunately destroyed my version of this set and it's a veryexpensive set online these days. So I really regret doing that, but it isstill an absolutely fabulous set. I love this pizza plant trick set, andthis was the only set in the summer that wasn't based out toy story. Three. This was specifically based of Theyse, seen featuring the pizza plan truckfrom Toy Story to now fund fact about the pizza plant truck, it's an ARY,Pixar movie. Of course it's an every toy story movie, but it's actually inevery single pixsar movie, even the ones that aren't even remotely set inthe modern day like brave or something they somehow some way always find a wayto sneak the pizza plant truck into every single picar film. Sometimes it'svery subtle and hard to see, sometimes it's very obvious, but somehow some way, they're always sneaking in the Kitza plan truck, which is an awesome littleEaster Egg. That Pixar is consistently putting in all of their movies. Now onething: Bout, the pizza plan, truck, there's so missing, characters in thisset because in this scene there's a lot more characters. Like Mr Potato, headsnicky dog Barby, you kno characters of that sort. The reason these charactersdon't appear in any of these toy story Setis, because they're owned bydifferent toy companies like Mattell, owns Barbi and Lego Matell, our rivalsso unfortunately, Lego is not able to have these other license characters inthe toy story set which kind of sucks, because I would love to see a sninkydog Mene figure. I would ator to see a MTR potato head figure, but it's a very, very complicated issue of rights, so it makes sense that these figures are notin any of these sets it'll be really cool to see them in the sets, but it'sjust not going to happen because these companies are not going to cooperatewith one another. They are big big rivals and it's just it's just notgoing to happen now. Let's talk about the sets based off of Toy Story. Three, the smallest toy story. Three specific set was lot SOS, dump truck. This was atwenty dolar set. That's very loosely! You know it's not specifically, butloosely inspired off a Toka truck. It was the cheapest way to get lots ofHugand bear. Who was one of the O G, like a big figs, really cool, lookingfigure and it's the only set effort to come with e character chunk who look upon line? If you don't know what he looks like this really looking rockmonster guy, who had a very unique headpiece where he could like fliparound the expressions on his face. It was super strange, super cool and veryunique. I wish I had this figure. I never got this set and you also got thecharacter stretch, who was a squid octopus with a very unique kind ofrebbery, tentacle piece, so cool little tween dollar set with some very uniquefigures I kind of want the say it's actually not too expensive online. Somaybe one day I will order this set here on Ebay. Now there were two toystorry three sets that were garbage teamed there actually weren't garbagesets. They were garbage sets in terms of they were based off of you knowactual garbage, but they were both very...

...good sets. Both sets were fiftydollars. The first one is the Fiftyar truck, which is actually, I think, one of thebest garbage trucks Lego has ever made. It was a similar scale to the pizzaplanet, truck where it just was very large, like it was much much biggerthan a normal minifig scale. Garbage truck should be, but it looks very good.It had good functionality had a very good picking up play feature and itcame with some dirty characters. A had lot so and Jesse covered in trash andwe'll talk o about trash caverakicters here and just a second, and it also wasthe only set ever to come with the character twitch and if you're a Legofan online. You probably know of just two good who's, one of my personalfriends which o guy I have been buddies for a long time. Twitch is like his alltime, favorite, like a mini figure and it's kind of become the mascot for hischannel here. So that's a pretty cool little story about that garbage truckset, but in my opinion, this had that actually means more to me from thisvery small little garbage unofficial soap. Theme of Toy Story is the trashcompactor set, so the trash compactor sets actually mean something special tome here: N, brick Olegy. I love sharing little anadotes about my life and myexperiences with Lego and this trash compactor set has a funny story. Iactually reviewed this set as my one hundred video special review. I thoughtI was such a big deal. Man I got a fifty dollar. Fifty Dollar Letgo setand reviewed it. I was like you know, this is a huge set. It's fifty bucks,it's Gointa be mat one hundred fidio special crenit. I was like thirteen, sofifty ollars a a lot of money for me back in that day, but it w's just superfunny. Look back that I reviewed a fifty dollar set. As you know, whatshould have been a pretty big deal? My one hundred video ever was E. Fiftydolar set review. That's kind of a funny little thing Abou, the sad butsay fifty dollar set, really cool, set, really fun set tons of good playfeatures with the trash impactor. They use a tread piece to make the conveyorbelt work and you also have ABAKCA, which use some very cool pieces that Ibelieve are like silloks closer to this set this day very cool clot pieces, andit came with some very cool mini figures, lot, O Woodi Ham and twoaliens that were all covered in trashed, just like the ones that came with thegarbage truck set very cool, unique exclusive, mini figures. Now, finally, for Toy Story: three sets there was the western train chase. This was about afive hundred eightyish piece. Eighty dollar set that is based off theopening scene from toy story. Three Tis try has some great opening scenes. Manseiously every single toystor movie has just an amazing opening scene and theopening scene of this movie is, you know, kind of going into Andy'simagination, it's as big western battle and there's this train, and this trainis super cool. It came with Woodie, also Bullsz, I think Jesse and it camewith evil, Dr Porktra, which was just the Ham minifigure with little bowlerhat and he looks adorable, and I love that miny figure. I wish I had this setagain people love kind of western theme stuff. I did get the western themetrain from the Lone Ranger theme a couple years later, so I do have aWestern train, but this is still a very cool set and one fun thing. The Hamminifigure is so unique, he's just two pieces technically speaking, but hamand the movie is a Piggy Bank and he legof figure, actually functions as areal life picky bank. He has a rubbers popper piece on his bottom. That youcan take out- and you can actually instrict corned Lego coins, of course, but coins an theless on the top of him inside of him, and you can remove themfrom the bottom, with repper stopper. The fact that Lego made the handminifigure a functioning piggy bank is so spectacular to me. I just absolutelylove that, so that's two thousand and ten besides a couple of polly bags, itdon't really matter. That's all we get...

...folks, that's all the toy story, stuffit doesn't tend and then the theme was discontinued for a long time. Really Imean there wasn't a toy story theme from two thousand and eleven to twothousand and eighteen. It returned in two thousand and nineteen of course, toconcide with the release of Toy Story. For now there were a couple of smalllittle toy story, things from Lego in between then in the year two thousandand sixteen Leco made a collectible minifigure series based off of Disney. It was a Disney cmf series and two characters. They chose for the DisneyCMF series were a couple from Toystorrn Tho chose buzzligt year and the alienthe alien had some slight slight printing uppeaded changes, but for themost part, looked like the exact same minifigure, the buzz figure had majorprinting upgrades and they actually changed the way. The minifigure lookednow the original buzz light year. Minifigure his head was a very custommoted piece to look like buzz from the movie that Doesn'n Sixteen versionchange it to be a normal Lego, minifigure head now, Jesse and Woodiadditionally also had in stinky pait lots of these. You know kind ofHumannoi toy story, characters had very custom. moded heads, Jesse and Woodieactually had long arms and long glegs. In addition to their heads being veryspecially molded, very cool figures, they looked really good and they lookeda lot like the characters from the movies. Well, also, still, having thatLego figure flare with Thin Lik, O Mani figure series lego decided that all thequote, unquote. Human Noi characters were going to have realistic humanstyle heads. I get the decision it. It makes sense to me to an extent, but itjust doesn't look as good buzzis head, I think, looked better as it custommold, rather than this human noyd style and all the non Hemoi caracters likethe alien and some of these characters from toy story for that about Thomission. Here just a minute, they still retained having thespecially moded head.So it's kind of weird to me. I think it was a odd, slightly misguide decision, but the decision that carried over to the toy storry four sets three yearsafter the CMF series in two thousand and nineteen, so Lego made six setsthis past year based off of toy story, for one of them wasn't really based ofToy story for but five of them were vitr specifically based off toy storyfor, and these sets to, the Chagrin of a lot of Lego fanswere now under the four Plus Aka Junors Monicor, which means the sets had very, very simple designs and few pieces bigger pieces, very easy to build andthe designs just don't look as good and es a let down. In my opinion, I don'tunderstand why themes like trolls world tour and millions indtosand and twentyget sets that are you know the more normal system style whill toy, storing, which I think is a way bigger and more popular franchise. More meanifulfranchise gets zero sets. I understand, hit that wone makes some sets juiorsthemed, but all six of them. Every single toy story- forset was juniorsteemed, which I think is very disappointing, and the designs justdon't look as good now lokly. The figures I think ures are still great. It's not like the Jack Stone sets which we're do will do an episode, BuJeckstone here in the future. Whene the figures just didn't fit in the figureswere still great, but the sets looked a little bit awkward. Now the smallestset was the Woodi and R C set, which is a remake of the two thousand and tenset, and this set was actually half the price. It was tendollars and it's agood deal for ten bucks. What do you mean? Figureis great, had a very nicepiece count of sixty nine and had microfigures of the Green Army Man.They were micro, so they were actually to scale with the Woodie mini fig. Ilove that that's great ourc looks like crap some good printed pieces, but arshe looks like cry Ar Shejust doesn't look nearly as good as the originalversion. I didn't have the fun pull back moter feature either so definitelya let down. This was not actually really based off. The new film Marchedoes appear in the new film, but I...

...would say that this is more so basedoff of toy story, one or two, not the new film, but still a good little smallset, but definitely a step down from the two thousand and ten version. Nowthe rest of the five sets wore specifically based off of scenes in toystory, for we had the twenty dolar Duke Kabooms stucc show, which came with theDuke Kaboon figure. This is the only other set from this line that Ipurchased. I got it on sale in Amazon. I thing for like ten dollars and itcomes with Ducabum Cu Cabun, Duke Kaboom, who is a stunt man, a Canadianstutman voiced by the Keana rigs? I think this is the only set ever to havea minifigure of Cate reevs correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is theonly Lico character that he has ever gotten before and Duke Aboom washasolutly Hilarious in the movie. When of my favrite parts of the movie, I'm amention that my favorite parts of toy story for as a film, where all thefunny side characters Drough Kaboom being one of the highlights. This hadalso had a very cool burning ring of fire and it's a very cool piece. It'ssimilar to something that Shima made. I think in like two thousand and fourteenFROR, one of their speedor sets cool set, builds not super complicated. Thewody minifigure came in the cheaper set, so I have to that. What do Yo meanyfigure that did have the? U Know More realistic, Lego, minifigure head asopposed to the longerhead and thes specialize arm pieces. We did, it stillhave be specialized hair hat combo, but cool set cool little Bild actuallylooks pretty good, even though it'stall juniors build and that Duke Caboom nnefigure is fantastic. Next Tup, we have buzz and bow peeps playground.Adventure pretty average playground bill, but it is the only sid that camewith Gabby Gaby, who was like kind of the villain of toy story for na a fullfledge villain, but definitely a villain in certain regard. This is alsothe first time we ever got a boat peek many figure, but pt kind of famously orinfamously is probably a better word to describe. It was not in toy story threeand then in toy story, for they kind of like reccon that and made a reason towhy she wasn't intol story, three, which I found kind of interesting, butBot pre was a great character and it was great to see boat peep in this say, that's of the cheapest set that we ever got her. I didn't get this set if Ifind it on clearance or something I might pick it up, but for now I did notget it, but you do get a skunk car, which is a kind of funny. Littlecomponent of toy story for the next sent we'll talk about here was calledthe RV vacation and it includes a course the RV build which the RF billdoes still have, that very junior ish design. But it's not half bad. Theplayability was pretty good. The miny figures you had Jesse with a newhairhat Combo. You also had the return of the erect men. Yo figure, that's agreat character, and this had also had an alien which are always going to get. But, most importantly, it's the only Toie, troy forset to include forky andforkey was one of the more iconic fun characters from Toy story for love, forky he's a fun little microstyle minifigure and finally, the last twotoy story for sets were based off of the kind of carnival aspect of the filmwas a big. You know, component of the movie, that is at a carnival, so we hadthe carnival thrill coaster. A twenty dollar set that kind of sucks a veryflat and boring roller coaster. It looks like one of those very kiddyroller coachers that you wouldn't ride on at a theme park and there are noclosive figures. You just got buzz and an alien, great characters, but notexclusive. So definitely not a very good set, one of the weekest andprobably honestly, the worst toy story set Lego has ever produced and thenfinally, we had buzz and woodies Carnivale Mania. The biggest set fromthis line. It was Fiftyoas and had a lot of thine park rides ind coin, including a pretty cool octopus, spinning ride a shooting game, somereally fun stuff. In this sense, the only set ever to come with the duckyand bunny figures. Those characters...

...were voiced respectively by key andpeal. The IKONIC comedy duo. Those characters stole the movie. They wereabsolutely hysterical and they're seen during the credits of toy story forliterally killed me t like one of the funniest scenes in any toy story orpicks our movie ever like I'm, not even joking. You know, if I'm talking about,if you see the movie, I won't spoil it for you, but they're Seeng in thecredits was hysterical. Yeah, so those are all thetoy story for sets and that's all the toy story set in general over the yearsLego has made a total of twenty two toy stories set spaced off all four moviesand a couple of expanded universe material. so that's lik good toy story. It's a pretty fun history. It's definitely interesting and I'm reallyglad that Lego made these sets, even though I wish I think they could havedone a little bit more with it, and I definitely wish that the toy stoy forstuff wasn't.
