LEGO Ghostbusters

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Who you gonna call?

GHOSTBUSTERS!

There's something strange in the neighborhood today for this week's episode of Brickology; specifically, the LEGO line of Ghostbusters sets. LegoLee breaks down the oddities of the theme and how it's stretched across multiple different lines of LEGO sets over the years.

Good morning, good afternoon, goodevening, whenever, wherever you are listening. Thank you so much for making mea part of your day. My name is Lee Palmer. Might knowme as Lego Lee or Lego Lee. Three, two, nine from facebook, instagram, twitter, Youtube, patron name it, I'm all over theInternet and this is the brick oology podcast, the study of small plastic bricks. How are you doing today? I sincerely hope you're having an absolutely fantasticday gearing up for the holiday season. I'm going home tomorrow for Thanksgiving. Now that I have a fulltime job, I don't really have a Thanksgiving breakanymore, or just like two days. It's no longer the long, youknow, like week off, like I used to be in college and whatnot. Those were good times. But I still have a couple of days offand I am really excited to reunite and see my family, and I willbe going home for an entire week. But I wanted to record an episodeof brick oology here before heading home for the holiday, and just some quickupdates. I know I've been really bad with brick ology ever since getting theaforementioned full time job. However, I also do do need to give myselfa little pat on the back. I upload episode three weeks ago, twoweeks ago, last week and now this week, four weeks in a rowwith an episode of Brick Ology, and I'm very, very proud of that. I'm glad to have gotten a little bit more consistency here and somehow Iactually got more responsibility at work, and I have no idea why this islined up like this, but somehow I have been able to manage having morework to do and actually being more consistent with my brick ology recording. Iknow that makes zero sense, but that's how it's gone and I'm very pleasedwith how this season is going. And if you listen to my last episodeof Brick Ology, which was about the Lego Harry Potter twenty anniversary sets,in that episode I explained how that episode wasn't originally planned for this season.I just didn't really get to everything I wanted to in time. So I'vebeen adding additional episodes two season six of brick ology and I had one morevery topical surprise episode planned, which is today's episode, which, if you'relistening, you've probably already seen the title, about Lego ghostbusters. Which I'll talkabout here in just a few moments, but I do want to announce kindof the future of this show. This will probably be the last episodefor November and then the first couple weeks of December it's going to be allspider man themed. Baby. I'm going to do one episode about these SamRainy Spider man stuff and then one episode about the mcu spider man stuff,of course leading up to the release of spider man no way home. SoI'm very excited about all of that. And then after that will probably getback on that calendar that I posted a few months ago for season six ofbrick oology. So all very exciting stuff. And one more quick little thing Ineed to mention again. If you listen to the Harry Potter episode fromlast week, that episode I did very informally. I did not write adetailed outline or script. I mostly ad libbed everything and if I'm being completelyhonest, I don't think it was as good a quality as my other episodes. I feel like I stumbled over a lot of words. I didn't geteverything out there that I wanted to. It was not my best work andI was hoping to maybe make my process of recording these episodes a little bitquicker, because I do put a lot of work into my scripts for theseshows, like today's script here is over eleven pages long. They are quitelong and it takes hours to write them.

However, I think it's worth itbecause I want this content to be very good. I treat brick oologyessentially like I am a Lego professor and I'm teaching a lecture about a certaintheme of Lego and they need to be thorough, they need to be verydetailed and they also need to be efficient. And I don't want to come offas being half asked, so I'm going to go back to my normalstyle of episode. I wrote a long outline script and yeah, that probablymeans I won't be able to make an episode every single, you know, week, but I think it will make the quality better. Well, maybehurting the quantity of episodes, but I think you all are going to understandthat and I'm still doing a pretty consistent job at recording and the back halfhere in two thousand and twenty one, so that is excited. Now,before we get started with today's episode, of course I need to shamelessly plugmyself here for just a moment. Go find me online. Like me onFacebook, follow me on Instagram, follow me on twitter, subscribe to myYoutube Channel and maybe consider supporting me on Patreon. It's Lego Lee or Legolea through two nine on all those various pages. Additionally, I have twoother podcasts. I have are you not podcast? That podcast I review movies, TV shows, music. It's all about entertainment and pop culture. Irecently just review eternals. Go check that out, and I also have thevery manly muppet show, which is about the muppets, shocker, that Ihost with a buddy of mine from college. Very Fun, weird podcast, extremelyniche, but definitely go check that out as well. And one finalthing. Whatever streaming service you are listening to brick ology on, please hitme with a follow. If you're on spotify, and if you are anapple podcast listener, subscribe to this podcast. Leave me a review out of fivestars, and please consider writing a review. I would love to hearyour fee back on the show. All right, announcements out the way, let's jump in and call up some ghostbusters. If this tomb sounds familiar, startsinging along. If there's something strange in the Neighborhoo. WHO YOU gonnacall? GHOSTBUSTERS? There's something weird and it don't look good. I'm gonnacall ghostbusters. I feel like the majority of you probably knew what I wassinging if you didn't start singing along with my horrible vocals there. That,of course, is the iconic theme song to the One thousand nine hundred andeighty four film ghostbusters, which, yeah, that movies almost forty years old now, which is crazy. But what is ghostbusters, you may ask.I think most people, most cinephiles like myself, would consider ghostbusters and absoluteclassic. It is pure s nostalgia. It's very campy and silly and satirical, dry humor. Probably has some very inappropriate and risk a humor that wouldget a canceled today, but overall ghostbusters is just an iconic film in thehistory of kind of poppy s cinema and I'm willing to bet most of youlistening have probably seen ghostbusters. If you're really young, maybe you haven't,but I feel like everybody has seen ghostbusters. It's just one of those ubiquitous moviesthat has affected everybody's life in some way, some how. Now forme personally, ghostbusters is not one of my all time favorite movie series oranything. I saw the original movie when I was probably like, I don'tknow, ten years old, and then I watched it again preparing for thetwo thousand and sixteen ghostbusters. So I've seen the original ghostbusters twice. Iwatch ghostbusters to in two thousand and sixteen before seeing the two thousand and sixteenversion. So I've seen ghostbusters to just once and I've seen the last twoghostbusters movies, the modern ones that have come out in my lifetime. Sotwo thousand and sixteen reboot and then ghostbusters...

...afterlife, which obviously just came out, which is why I'm uploading this episode now. And if you want tohear my thoughts on ghostbusters afterlife, stream my review on my are you notpodcast. It's under the Halloween special because I got to see that movie earlyat Comic Con, so go check out that review. So I've seen thetwo new ghostbusters movies in theaters and never since. So I've seen every ghostbustersmovie besides the first one just one time and the first one twice. Soit's a movie series that I am well versed in. I've seen all themovies, but I am not like I'm ghostbusters Mega Fan, and I thinkyou'll probably pick up on that throughout this episode. But the first film isiconic and it definitely holds a special place in my heart just for influencing things, and obviously that's theme song is absolute lutely incredible and it was a humongousbox office success. So of course they made a sequel, ghostbusters to isnot very good in my opinion, and people didn't respond super well to itas well, and the movie didn't like bomb at the box office, butit wasn't nearly as financially successful as the original one, which kind of stalledthe franchise for a number of decades and Sony was trying to figure out waysto make new ghostbusters content and eventually they settled on rebooting the franchise in twothousand and sixteen with an all female cast and honestly, I haven't seen thatmovie since theaters I don't really want to watch it again. I don't rememberit being like absolutely horrible like a lot of people make it out to be, but I also kind of understand why it ticked off a lot of ghostbustersfans. It definitely was not an honoring of the franchise style of movie. That movie completely bombed at the box office and is infamous. Like people hatethat movie. They love to hate that movie. It has been the victimof a ton of criticism over the year, some fair, some unfair, butthat movie kind of killed ghostbusters there for a bit. But they havebrought ghostbusters back here with ghostbusters afterlife, which completely ignores anything that the townsixteen movie established. And it is a direct sequel to mostly just the originalfirst ghostbusters film. And it's really interesting because Ivan Rightman directed the original ghostbusters. His son, Jason Rightman, directed this new movie here in two thousandand twenty one. And if you want to hear more of my thoughts onthis film, like I said, stream my Halloween special episode of the arguedup podcast to hear my thoughts on ghostbusters. Act Your Life, but to surmisethem here just briefly, I honestly really enjoyed the movie. It hadsome flaws but overall it was a good time. So that is ghostbusters asa franchise and the origins of the ghostbusters lego theme, quote Unquote, andI'll explain that here and just a second is very weird. So essentially theway that ghostbusters became a Lego theme is through Lego ideas, and for thoseof you who are unaware of what Lego ideas is, I'll explain it herebriefly. Originally it was called Lego Custokuso was kind of a confusing name,so they change it to Lego ideas. And what it is? It's awebsite online where fans can submit their own Lego set ideas, hence the name, and then people can vote on them and once a project receives ten thousandvotes, Lego starts to review those projects and they select a few that theythink can make good lego sets. Obviously, sometimes, if it's like ghostbusters, they had to sign some like licensing agreements and whatnot, but they selectthose sets and actually start loosen them as Lego sets. Now, the ghostbustersset was one of the original lego ideas set. It was the six ideasset over all, and I feel like...

...the back to the future set, which came out a year earlier, in two thousand and thirteen, with theghostbuster set coming out to his hun fourteen. But the back to the feature setkind of paved the way for this set getting made. That back tothe future set was so successful everybody wanted that to Lauren didn't make a bunchof stock of it, but it was sold out for quite some time.People were freaking out over the Lego ideas back to the future set. Solegos like Ding people love this s nostalgia stuff. With back to the future, maybe we should consider doing ghostbusters and a project of course got enough supportand they made a Lego ideas ghostbusters set in the summer of two thousand andfourteen and then it kind of spawned into a theme rather oddly, because mostideas sets haven't done that, besides maybe minecraft, but besides minecraft, mostof legos ideas sets have stayed one undone that. They made one winning thePooh set, made one sesame street set. They haven't gone out there and producean entire theme of Sesame Street or winning the Pooh and a number ofothers. I guess friends was an idea set and got a sequel set.So let go friends based off the end of the Sitcom. That is kindof become a theme as well in Minecrackt I think, is the most Tannisexample, and now ghostbusters has kind of become a theme of its own here, however, for the ghostbusters sets are just randomly in a bunch of otherthemes. Like this is wild. There's like four different things I'm going tomention today. There's a brief theme that is just ghostbusters out right. There'sLego ideas, of course, there's also brickheads, creator expert and then Legodimensions. That's actually five themes. So the ghostbusters theme has been a partof five separate lego themes, assembling a group, not a huge amount, but a decent sample size, of ghostbusters Lego sets. It's very complicated,it's very weird and I will explain it throughout today's episode of Brick Ology. So let's dive in and talk about the Lego ghostbusters sets. I'm going togo through these ghostbusters sets mostly in the order they were released. It's goingto be a little bit mixed up when we get to like the dimension stuff. Some of those releases were a little bit different, but for the mostpart this is going to be the collogeal order of their release. So obviouslywe're starting off with the two thousand and fourteen lego ideas, ghostbusters ecto oneset this was a fifty dollar set with five hundred and eight pieces and ofcourse it included for minifigures. Here the GHOSTBUSTERS, starting off with the maincharacter from ghostbusters, the legendary Bill Murray's character, Peter Vinkman one. Verycool to get Bill Murray and Lego form. Maybe we'll get another Bill Murray figurewith his appearance in ant man and the lost quantum mania. To waitand see on that, but this is a pretty cool looking figure. Hehad a new torso print, great name tag print on their no leg print, no arm print. That will change for future ghostbusters figures. And hishair piece here is that like two thousand and nine clone wars count Duku hairpiecein a light brown, often referred to as the widows peak hairpiece. Notthe best hairpiece, but again this will change in the future. He alsohas a brick built proton pack. The Proton pack is one of the mosticonic elements of the ghostbusters costumes and Lego did a very good job recreating themhere. Great, very small uses of parts. Amazing underside tile piece, one of those like curved underside tile pieces with a print. That was abrilliant part usage. I love that and they also use essentially for like thehose to second the ghost. They use a whip piece here and have itwrap around very creative part, usage really well designed proton packs they would lateruse on other ghostbusters minifigures in the future. Bravo on that Lego. The nextfigure here is Dan Akroyd's character,...

...known as ray stance. Great faceprint. The hair piece is very generic and all of these figures had generichair pieces because for some reason back in the day Lego refused to make newmolds for ideas sets. It was like a rule of theirs or like nonew molds for lego ideas. Eventually they broke that with sesame street and thenwinning the Pooh. Thank God, because it was kind of awkward when theykept having to just reuse hair pieces for these ideas sets and then kind ofmake up for the mistakes later on and different themes, and we'll talk aboutthat throughout this episode. But this race dance figure here, I think theface print actually looks a good bit like Dan Akroyd, so that is verygood. And all these figures have very similar torture prints, but of coursethey have their specialized name tag printed on as well, which is very cool. The next figure here is Egon Spangler, played by the late Harold Ramus.Rest in peace to hall Ramis himself. He's the only one of these actorswho is no longer living. He has a great face print with theglasses and he uses the collectible minifigures series six Elvis hairpiece and a dark brownwhich I actually think is about as close to perfect for this character, andLego form. Great hairpiece ushers there, and this figure, in my opinion, looks really good. I especially love his face print. And last butnot least, for the ghostbusters, we have Winston Zed Moore, played byErnie Hudson in the film. He uses a slicked black hair piece, notmy favorite hair piece and again kind of like Bankman. This hair piece willchange in the future, which is good, but he had a great face printand all the other accessories a good torso print as well. So overall these figures they look really good and they actually improve on them the future, which we will talk about with the next set in this episode. Butone cool thing with these figures here is they actually included a display stand forthe figures that had some nice kind of ghostbuster ghost trap looking details on itas well. I really like that inclusion and it's very cool. It makesit good for display and there's one thing about this particular set that's not verygood and that is you can't really fit all four of the mini figures insidethe ECTO one itself. So this is my Seguay into moving onto the buildof the set, which of course is the ECTO one. Now, theECTO one, I believe, is like a one thousand nine hundred fifty styleambulance before ambulances were much bigger. It's kind of like a Cadillac Style ambulancefrom the S. looks very cool. Has the iconic fans at the backbut of course has been modified with the ghostbusters moniker and all the crazy ghostbusterscontraptions on the top as well. It looks very cool and it is mostlybuilt to scale with the mini figures. There's great shaping for its size. The Front Grill has amazing usage of silver pieces. I love the texture ofthis build. It's very smooth, great printed pieces throughout. It's long, but it has the small wheels. The back section is awesome. I lovethe back fins and the back tail lights. All that is very good. Inthe top section has tons of little greeble details that are extremely accurate tothe film. Overall, this thing looks great. You get to the interior, you can take off the roof. Essentially you have to kind of messaround with some tube pieces on the side, but you can get to the interiorthrough the roof and you can fit three of the figures on the insidewithout their proton packs on. You kind of throw their proton packs in theback a little bit Willy Nilly. We can only fit three of the minifigures, even though you get all four figures in this set. Now forme, I personally have to split it with the figures on the display standand kind of forgot about putting them actually inside the vehicle. So it's notthat big a deal, but if you are trying to play with this,it's a little bit annoying. You can't...

...actually fit all four of the ghostbusterscharacters inside here. I get not being able to fit them with the Protonpacks. Those are rather big pieces that were a little bit awkward to fiton the inside of a vehicle. So that makes a little bit of senseto me, but I do think it's kind of disappointing. Not all thefigures can fit inside here. So overall this set looks great on display.I don't think the play is as good as it could have been, butit's definitely targeted a little bit more towards adult so a slightly flawed but mostlygreat version of this vehicle, and I wouldn't mind. I mean it's beenseven years since this set came out. I would not mind a remake comingout that fixes some of the issues that this set had. I think Legocould do that at some point in the future and I would be all herefor it. Getting the little bit bigger, jumping forward two years to two thousandand sixteen. So there was nothing in two thousand and fifteen for Ghostbusters, but to then sixteen ends up being the biggest year for Lego ghostbusters ever. The next set here is a three hundred and fifty four thousand six hundredand thirty four piece set of the ghostbusters firehouse headquarters, or H Q.This set is very large. It's one of the largest Lego sets of alltime. I believe it was like in the top five. Ever when itwas released. Lego has gone on to make a ton of very large Legosets since then, but it's still one of the bigger Lego sets ever madein terms of price and peace count. This thing is Hu mongus. Ofcourse, this is a direct to consumer set. You could only really buyit from lego themselves. And let's talk about the mini figures included here.Definitely an absolutely fantastic line up of minifigures for this sets. Now, ofcourse you do get all four of the ghostbusters and they're mostly the same, but there are some updates. First off, they now have arm printing with theghostbusters logos, some patches and whatnot. Great addition, I love that Winstonnow has a more accurate hair piece. They use the hair piece they makefor black people that they introduced with Fin. It doesn't fifteen and starwars episodes, haven the force awaken sets that use that for him here, which is great and definitely more accurate. We love to see that. Andthen Peter Vinkman has a brand new hairpiece all together that looks way more likeBill Murray's, kind of like half bald head. Very good looking hair piece. And Bankman in this set in particular is covered in slime. His facehas slime all over it and so does his torso printing. Now, luckily, you can get an unslimmed version of Peter Vankman in a different set thatwill talk about here after talking about this big boy of a set. Sodon't worry about, you know, only having this really good version of aankmanbe covered in slime, because Lego did have a different option available in adifferent set. As for the other figures of this set, all the figureswhat to talk about here are completely exclusive to this set. The first onehere is Lewis tolly, the character played by Rick Morainus in the film.Had A great face print, kind of a generic hair piece but a reallygood torso print as well and a really cool doubles headed face with the changestrap and you can put kind of like the contraptions on his head when theydo testing on him in the movie. Love that very, very well donefigure. The next character here is Janane Melnetz, too, is kind ofthe receptionist to the ghostbusters played by any pots in the film. She hasagain engineeric hairpiece but a fantastic looking face print that really captures the look ofthis character and I love the glasses putted here. Over all, lots ofvery effective glasses prints throughout these ghostbusters sets, which I really enjoy. And finally, here for a human character,...

...we have Dana Barrett, who,of course, is played by the legendary actress Sigourney Weaver in the movie andthis is kind of her possessed version. When she is possessed towards the endof the film. She's wearing this fabulous dress, her hair is all blownout in crazy styles and has this very eccentric make up. A great lookingfigure. I love the hairpiece they gave her here. It's a really coollooking hairpiece. This is a fantastic figure, one of the better ones included withthis set. Now there are some ghosts here as well. They actuallyused an INN Jago ghost piece from two thousand and fifteen, very small ghostpiece, recolored one and pink and recolored one and kind of a light blue. Those are here in the set. Not really real mini figures, though, but the next three here are mini figures. One we get slimer inthis set. Who Slimmer is definitely the most iconic ghost character from the ghostbustersfranchise and he is a brand new piece. He's one piece, his arms canmove, printed face, weird looking piece, but of course kind ofa transparent green plastic and I think he looks great. You also get theZombie driver here, pretty simple. I do love the hat piece for himand a great new face print for this character as well. And finally, you also get the library ghost. Now the library ghost doesn't really make senseincluded with this set, but she is a very iconic figure from the openingscene of the ghostbusters movie, so I understand including him her here and shelooks very, very good. So overall the lineup of mini figures in thisset is superb Lego did an amazing job with all of these figures. Movingon, though, I mean the figures are great, but there's still likeforty five hundred pieces worth of Lego set here, and the Lego set heredefinitely delivers. It is a full scale version of the firehouse headquarters from ghostbustersand it's pretty much to scale with the figures, which is crazy. Wedon't get a lot of pretty much accurate minifig scale stuff, so that isvery cool. And from the outside it's simple. I mean it's you know, pretty much is dark red and great pieces, but the details look fantasticand you can open it up to the inside to reveal a ton of additionaldetail, including some floors. So the first floor you have the big doorsat the front which you can actually park the ECTO one set inside if youhad that set from to two thousand and fourteen. Now there was some weirdstuff going on where you had to move some small side builds to fit theECTO one inside. So it wasn't perfectly designed with that set in mind, but for the most part I think it worked out well enough. The restof the bottom floor is fairly open. It's quite stud heavy. That's oneof the things I don't love of the interior of this set. Instead oftiling off all the floors, a lot of it is very stud heavy. That's not my favorite thing in the world. But there are some desks, there'sa chest of drawers and lots of good detail and there are stairs aswell to go up to the next floor, which I always love to see, because Lego a lot of times completely neglects stairs and their sets and they'rebasically asking you to kind of just imagine the figures jumping between floors. Butin this set you actually do have accessibility for the minifigures to get to thenext floors. And speaking of the next floor, the second floor here hasa bathroom with some slime details. This actually does have a tiled floor. It looks very good, although this bathroom doesn't have any walls around it,so it's completely visible to the rest of the floor. That's a bit weirdif you ask me. But besides that, very cool. There's also a bedroomthat is actually walled off. That's a little bit different. The bedroomhas some nice beds as well. I really do like that. And thenthere's the kitchen. Has a really good...

...fridge design. It has the abilityto kind of knock over some of the furniture in the kitchen and to makea kind of look like mayhem has ensued in they're very cool design over all. The second floor has some great details, but I think the best details areon the third and final floor. Here the lab. The lab isgreat. You have the testing station for Lewis. That all looks really goodand there is a pool table design as well that I love. And finally, there is a fire poll that goes from the roof all the way tothe ground floor here, like any normal firehouse would, and it does functionas well. Very cool little detail included with this set. So over all, great looking build. I have heard that some of the walls tend tolean. They're quite heavy and sometimes it's not the most stable of designs.I know just too good a famous Lego youtuber like tried to move his andthe whole thing kind of fell apart. So I've heard that some of thestability of this set isn't the best in the world. I personally don't havethis set because when it came out I didn't have that much money and Iwas never going to drop three hundred and fifty dollars of my money as likea nineteen year old on a ghostbusters set. If this set came out today,I would definitely strong and consider it a lot more than I did backthen. But I still think it's a very well done set, even ifit does have some flaws that I'm not really able to experience because I don'tpersonally have it myself. Continuing the long and two thousand and sixteen, whichthis is officially go oostbusters theme set, the last set was marketed as aghostbusters set and this next set was marketed as a ghostbusters set as well. This is ecto one and two based off the two thousand and sixteen reboot film. This was a sixty set with five hundred and fifty six pieces. Itincluded the figures here, one of Abby Yates, who is played by MelissaMcCarthy in the film. I believe her currently her only lego figure ever made. She had a great torso leg arm print, a brand new face printand a brand new hairpiece and the protime packs were just as good as theother sets. Overall, a fantastically detailed, great looking figure. The next figurehere is Kristen whiggs character, Aaron Gilbert. Christen wig actually has twolego figures now with Cheetah from wonder woman one thousand nine hundred and eighty fouras well. Aaron Gilbert here has dual molded legs, which Lego doesn't doall that often anymore. Very nice to see here. Has No new hairpiece, the hairpiece of the generic pointel hair piece and her face print is prettymediocre. So over all, of all the figures and this set out here, this one is the most boring in looks the least like the actress respectively. The next character here is Jillian Holtzman, played by Kate McKinnon in the film. I remember her being just Wacky as heck in the movie and thisfigure is Wacky as heck as well. I'm awesome brand new hair pease andI love her face print with the goggles, continuing on with the ghostbusters theme ofhaving some great glasses wearing lego mini figures. Really Fun figure that alsohad dual molded legs as well. The detail on these figures here is absolutelyfantastic. Save what you will about the characters in the movie. The legorecreations of them in figure form is great. And last but not least, hereis Patty Tolan, played by Leslie Jones in the movie. This figureanother brand new hair piece, a great face print, great torso print, great leg print, great arm print. These figures are so good. Nextup is the receptionist. So the ginger roles are all kind of reversed inthis movie. To the receptionist now is a man played by Chris Himsworth,Aka Thor in the movie. This figure here has a great face print.I really enjoyed the superman hair piece and kind of a Tan blond color.I think that worked out pretty well.

No leg printing, which seems kindof weird because everyone else got Le Print but besides that, a very goodlooking figure and he had again has glasses. So more awesome glasses characters for Legoghostbusters. And finally, you also get a ghost in this set calledmayhem, a new ghost figure that use some skeleton pieces in red and intransparent black, uses some of the gargoyle pieces with some green printing from collectiblemini figures. Very Weird, very creepy. I don't remember this figure being particularlyaccurate to the version that we see in the movie, but overall apretty cool looking ghost character for this set. So an absolutely fantastic lineup of minifigures for this set. As for the builds of this set, ofcourse you get the new version of ECTO one. The original ecto one wasbased off a s style ambulance. This one is based off one thousand ninehundred and eighty style hearse and it's a converted hearse into the ECTO one. This build is fantastic. It's so good. The Front section has great shaping allaround. I love the grill. I love kind of the Square Scard look. That is very cool. The top section, of course, has all the ghostbusters Knick knacks as well as the last set very, verygood. And then the interior one has opening doors. That's a plus thelast version did not have. And again you can't seat the figures with theirproton packs inside. That is understandable to me, but you can't fit allfour of the ghostbusters inside here, which is so, so good. Ilove that. So they actually improved on some of the flaws from the lastversion. Now here's the thing. Obviously this vehicle is not nearly as coolor iconic as the original ecto one, but just based off it being aLego set, this is an absolutely fantastic lego set and I think Lego dida better job with this set then they did with the two thousand and fourteenoriginal ecto one, which is kind of crazy. Now you're probably wondering whatis ECTO two. It says ecto one and ECTO two and the name theset. What is this mysterious ECTO Two? It is a motorcycle. It's literallythe Mutt Williams motorcycle piece in White, a good color to get that piecein, but it's white. It has a small ghostbusters logo sticker atthe front and some weird contraption at the back with a few pieces. Thatis about all she wrote for that. So ECTO two is not anything towrite Humm a bell. So say what you will about the movie, loveit or hate it, this is a great set based off a very controversialfilm. Moving on from that, we can now talk about some ghostbusters sets, not in the ghostbusters theme, but from the theme Lego dimensions. Now, if you don't know what dimensions is, I will explain it here very quickly. Lego dimensions was a toys to life game that came out in twothousand and fifteen. Toys to life essentially is a gaming style kind of likea Mebos, which Nintendo has popular eye over the years, or iconically, like Disney infinity, which was a big flop, or their skylanders that waskind of the first game to do this, where you get like a scanner. You can buy these action figure style toys and scan them and then getsaid characters in the respective game. It's a very gimmicky and interesting concept andLego obviously has a pretty big hand in the video game market place, sothey jumped on the bandwagon and made their own Lego toys to life game calledLego dimensions, and Lego dimensions had a bunch of different properties, from stufflike Harry Potter or Batman or Lord of...

...the Rings or the lego movie. They really had a lot of different stuff in the game, including ghostbusters. So these are the ghostbusters packs they made for lego dimensions. The first onewe're going to talk about here is the ghostbusters level pack. This was athirty dollar set with one hundred and fifteen pieces. Dimension sets iconically had horribleprices because essentially they're trying to charge you for the video game merchandise, whichis kind of embarrassing and ridiculous. Horrible prices from lego dimensions. The figureincluded here was Peter Vinkman, which is the same updated version that we talkedabout with the firehouse headquarters set, but had no slime details. So ifyou wanted to get the newer version of Inkman with the new hairpiece and thearm print but didn't want to have to deal with all the slime detail, this is how you got the figure. So he actually was an exclusive figurehere to this set. The builds here, the small little game pieces here, are small scale ECTO one that looks horrible and only has two wheels ofthe front that even build the back wheels. Awful, terrible small scale design andthen kind of a large scale ghost trap. So weird proportions here. Not a big fan of either of these builds. So overall these builds arenot good. You did get an exclusive character. I didn't play the gamethat much, so I can't really speak to the Gameplay of this design. So a good figure, but for thirty bucks you got some pretty awful builddesigns. The next two things are called fun packs. They were half theprize that came with one small side build and they came with one minifigure. The first fun pack here, so a fifteen dollar set with sixty five pieces, is the stay puff fun pack, which came with the figure. Itcompletely exclusive figure of the stay puff marshmallow man, one of the most iconicthings from the original ghostbusters film. Amazing figure, brand new head mold thatlooks absolutely perfect. The printing is simple but effective. It really captures thatkind of iconic sailor outfit the states buff marshmallow man wears. I love thisfigure. Now, obviously in the movie the figure is massive, but thatwouldn't have made any sense for a small dimensions pack. As a figured, though, it looks great and the build he comes with is a brick builtrepresent station of the terror dog, one of the main kind of ghost adversariesin the original ghostbusters film. Now, this terror dog build is way toosmall. I think could definitely been bigger, but for its size it works prettywell. It's the only version of this we've gotten in Lego and it'sreally cool to actually get a somewhat desirable build with one of these dimensions funpacks. So, as far as these fun packs go, this stay puffone here is absolutely fantastic and definitely one of the better ones they made.A little bit later on they actually made another ghostbusters fun pack here with slimmerthat actually only cost twelve dollars. They reduced the price because dimension sales were, frankly, pretty awful, so they made them a little bit cheaper, and twelve dollar still oddly feels expensive for these builds here. But this slimmerfun pack here came with the figure of slimmer and a much more affordable setthan the three hundred and fifty firehouse HQ set. Oddly enough, though,it's not the same figure. The one the HQ is a different shade ofgreen. This one is a darker shade of green. Very Weird. I'mnot really sure why they did that, but it did make it so thefigures remained exclusive between the different sets, which is very bizarre if you askme. The build here is a slime cannon. It's weird, it's prettycrappy and I don't like it. So literally, I only buy this twelvedollar fun pack for the slimmer figure and...

...honestly it's worth it because the figureis fantastic. But the side build here, unlike the stay puff one, isnot worth anything. Horrible side build. The final ghostbusters dimensions thing is actuallya play the complete game set based off of the two thousand and sixteenmovie. This was a forty set with two hundred and fifty nine pieces basedoff two thousand and sixteen ghostbusters reboot, and it include the figure here ofa be yates who is the exact same as her other appearance. So noexclusive figures here. And the build here is basically supposed to represent the GHOSTBUSTERSHQ from the two thousand and sixteen movie, which is on top of a Chineserestaurant. Actually think Lego could have made a really cool set of thatdesign. Again, say which you will, about that movie. I think itcould have made for a cool Lego set. Well, we got hereis pretty mediocre. It's got a nice door with some cool prints, thensome shelves to store some ghostbusters gear and that's about it. There really isn'tanything else to talk about here. Also, there is a side build of anothersmall scale ECTO one. This one is okay. It's a little bitbetter than the other Ecto one small scale build because it does have four wheels, but it just looks rather odd and she be and is not their bestwork. They definitely did better small builds with other dimensions sets. So overallthis was pretty average. But you could basically take this, which was ona very specialized ten base blate piece, and actually put it on the maindimensions portal and play through the game within dimensions based off this set. Sothat is pretty fun but overall definitely not that great. As we're winding downthrough the ghostbusters theme, we have a couple of more additional themes that actuallygot their own ghostbusters set. In two thousand and eighteen Lego brickheads, whichis basically legos version of funko POPs, made a two pack set of PeterVinkman and slimer from the original ghostbusters. This was a twenty dollar set withtwo hundred and twenty eight pieces. Finkman has covered in slime. Slimmer isnot transparent. He is just a typical kind of lime green color. It'sa pretty forgettable looking brickhead. None of the design work here is all thatinteresting to me and brickheads, frankly, are not my favorite thing. Icollected most of the Star Wars one but besides that I've been very out oftouch with the brickheads Lego sets. So so, frankly, I don't reallycare. And let's move on to the final set of today's episode, amuch cooler set. This is the GHOSTBUSTERS ECTO one set from two thousand andtwenty, which is basically a UCS set. Now they don't use the name. You see S for ghostbusters or Non Star Wars theme, but it ispseudo ucs. It is a big scale version of this vehicle from the movie. It's a two hundred dollar set that had two thousand three hundred and fiftytwo pieces. It was released in late two thousand and twenty to coincide withthe release of ghostbusters after life, which is supposed to come out, Ibelieve, and November of that year, but obviously covid happened in that moviegot pushed back all the way to November. It two thousand and twenty one,but lego still release this set. So kind of awkwardly came out whenthere was no new ghostbusters stuff. So I've no idea how that's affected thesales of this set. But I do think this set is great. Igot it for Christmas last year, which is very, very cool. Nomany figures included here. There is no display stand, there's no plaque oranything to signify what this is. It's just the large scale ECTO one buildand there are tons of details and features here. One thing is they giveyou an entire set of stickers you can put all throughout this vehicle to makeit appear like it's rusty. Now that's basically to recreate how it looks inghostbusters afterlife, because it's sitting on a...

...farm in a shed for a verylong time, so naturally the metal would rust, and I get kind ofthat detail. I personally did not put those stickers on because I didn't wantmy lego at one to look rusty. So it's very nice. Those werestickers and not like brick built details, so you have the option of notactually ending up with the kind of ugly, Rusty version of this vehicle. Nowthe features here are amazing. There are opening doors, the hood canopen up. Sometimes the hood isn't quite closed, which is a little bitannoying. But besides that it looks great. There's a fantastic windscreen piece, allthe details, the mirrors, the lights, everything, the gorill beltout of rollerskate pieces. Oh my gosh, I love the way this thing looks. The front headlights are built out a trash cans. I mean, everything is so well done and the roof has some great detail as well.Tons of greeables. Love the tubes, love the lights, love the partusage and when you actually move this thing on the ground with its wheels,it makes multiple pieces on the roof spin with some very cool technic designs. It's hard to explain, but it works out really, really well. SoI love that about the roof of this vehicle. The back section again haskind of those ambulance style fans from the s that look fantastic. The backdoes open up as well, which is nice, and there actually are twomore play features with this set. I love the mechanism here. One youcan push a piece on one side to make a door kind of slide outfrom this vehicle with the little gunner station like in the movie. Very, very cool. And finally, you can pull a lever at the back andit does deploy a mobile remote controlled ghost trap. That's basically because all littlebrow control car buggy. That is very cool as well and a great andvery well functioning playability feature. Over all, I love this set. I thinkit looks great, I think it plays great, I think it's agreat value. I wish maybe it came with some figures in a stand, but besides that it's very well done. So that is all she wrote forLego ghostbusters. What a strange collection of sets. There aren't really any badsets here, besides maybe some of the dimensions sets, which is cool. There's no some amazing figures and they have made the most iconic stuff from ghostbusters, but the same time it feels like Lego could have been making more ghostbusterscontent and maybe making more sets that a little bit cheaper more affordable and makingmore scenes from these movies. But they've kind of dropped the ball and notreally use the full potential of the license. So it's all very inconsistent and weirdbut overall an interesting theme with some definitely cool stuff inside of it.And thank you so much for listening today's episode of Brick Al Ja.
