ABOUT THIS EPISODE

In honor of its recent release in theaters and on Disney+, LegoLee disects the Raya and the Last Dragon line from LEGO and articulates all the interesting parts and pieces that make up the minidoll theme.

In morting good afternoon, good evening, whenever, wherever you're listening, thank you so much making me a part ofyour day. My name is Lee. Partyn might know me as Luga Li or legole three ninefrom tit poot instagram twitter, youtube, pay, troining name it. I amall over the Internet, and this is the brick Ology podcast, the study of smallplastic bricks. How are you doing today? I really hope you're having just afantastic day and I'm really excited for today's episode of brickology. Thisis episode number forty four. Now, every time on this show when I've had adouble number, it's been a QNA episode, because the Qti episode was always theeleventh episode of the season. Now last week I made a big announcementthat I was making my brickall to seasons no longer tin episodes, butthirteen episodes each. So this is still tecnically the eleventh episodeof season for, but we have two more episodes to go and then the seasoncapper of the QNA at the end of the season. So I'm a little bitdisiappointed that qnd as are never again going to be perfectly sorted bythe double number episodes. I did love that beautiful symmetry between all ofthe QNA episodes, but I'm super excited that these new seasons are going to bethirteen episodes each so get ready for all o that we have two more episodesafter this one in particular next week will be the Harry Potter episode thatwill come out every single season and then we'll have a fan, vote episode forthe Thirteenth episode of the season, and then the afour mentioned q Anda, solots to look forward to on brick ology. Also before I sey anything else abouttoday's episode, I got a big announcement and a hummungous shamelessplug. I always shamelesly plug myself at the beginning of each of theseepisodes, but guys I have a big announcement. I made a new podcast andthis is a podcast that I'm extremely excited about, and it's one that Ithink you will be excited about too, because it's going to relate to Lego alot. The name of my new podcast is called R. U Not Dotdadut Question Markand I'll explain the show very briefly. Essentially, are you not is going to bea topical entertainment and Pop Culture Podcast so over there I'm going to talkabout things that are like happening right now. So, for example, the firstever episode of. Are you not? I reviewed one division, which is ended acouple of weeks ago and I recapped the most recent grammys award show ceremony, which happened like a few days ago. It's very topical, very up to date andhopefully well be one episode a week. You can stream. Are you not on spotifyand apple podcast you're going to follow it all those platforms ers alsoan instagram for the podcast as well, and one thing is the first episode ofAr Yunat is actually going to tie in with the topic on brick ology today, soI won't say IT'S ACT HA why for a couple of minutes, but you learn whyhere ind just a second, but so basically to get more context to brickolgy today you should go stream. The episode of, are you not, I know, that'sa very, very shameless plug on my part, but I'm kind of this podcast. I thinkyou guys are going to like it so check it out on Instagram, spotify and applepodcasts, and of course I myself like a Lee, I'm also on other platforms aslegoly. You can follow me on Instagram, like my facehoot page followe me ontwitter, subscribe to my Youtube Channel, maybe consider becoming apatreoon supporter, and I additionally have another podcast called the verymanly mupput show that it Hos with a friend from college that podcast willbe kind of inconsistent in its posting time, because I had to get togetherwith said friend to record that podcast. So I'm not really sure when the nextepisode of that one will be, but there is a very fun episode of that podcastout right now: okay, shameless plugs...

...and really just bragging about howgreat I am a podcasting out of the way, let's jump into this week's topic ofBrick Ology, which is Lego Riah and the last dragon man, it's been a while, since I've discussed anything new for Lego on brick, ology pretty much all ofthe episodes I've done in the past few months, or so I've been talking aboutold to vintage, Lego themes, but today we're going to be talking about a brandnew leco theme, and this episode is actually a brick Ology. First, thereason it's a brick allgy first, because this is the first time I amtalking aabout a mini dull theme, not in Mani figure theme, a any dull theme. No, for those of you who might not be completely aware of what I am talkingabout, a mini doltheme is usually a thing: that's targeted more towardsgirls, little girls, where, as many figures are targeted more towards boys,me dolls kind of have that Barbie doll shape where they're extremely thin talland have long legs. And personally I don't like many dols, because I thinkmany dolls set a bad example for young women with body issue. I just reallythink that is not a healthy thing for Lego to do, but clearly it works. Iguess to an extent because Leco forence has almost been going on for a decadenow they have Disney princess and they've made a number of other minidull themes and is the first time I'm ever going to be talking about aminidol theme in particular. Now don't get used to it, because I'm probablynot going to do too many other episodes about many doll themes. I wanted to dothis. One to tie am with my episode of. Are you not and because the movie justcame out and also I would go ahead and say this? Is probably my favoritesingle wave of Mani doll theme sets ever? These are actually very, verygood sete and I'm excited to talk about them today. Now I have done Disneythemes in the Pastat, a lone ranger, and I did lots of pirates thatCaribbean said. I also did Prince of Persia fairly recently, so I'm not newto Disney. I did toy story, one of the first few episodes of brick algi ever, but I believe this is the first time I'm talking about a Disney animatedtheme in its entirety and as for the movie itself, I saw the Movein theatersand I really like the movie, but this is where my shame, let's plug, comes in.If you want to hear my full thoughts, my full review of the film stream thatare you not podcast, I go and death of my review over there. It's like afifteen minute segument on that podcast. So you want to learn more about what Ithought about. This said film check out that PODCAST, so itey'll further dolet's jump in and talk about the Lego, Riah and the last dragon setsthemselves. The first set we're going to talk about here is called Riah andthe Ondino this set is a Polli bag and the reason I'm actually mentionend thispoly Valus, because sometimes I omit talking about polly baksond themes isbecause there's only three other set, so I definitely have some extra time totalk about this polly Bagnow polly bags, approximately these days cost aboutfive dolars. Four hundred nine depends on the location, but usually about fivedollars. This one has forty eight pieces, so nearly a perfect price topart ratio, as for the figures include with the set or the Mani dolls includedwith this, that you get Riah the titular character of this movie, andthis is the cheapest way to get Rya, and this figure also appears in anotherset from this line. Now. Riah has some really awesome: New Molds there's abrand new mode for her hairpiece, which is also dull, molded with a straw hat,and it looks really fantastic and she also has a brand new mold for her sword. Her Sword was pretty dope in the movie. I got to say so myself and I think Likadid a good job molding that piece here, so some awesome new pieces for Ria. Youalso get a brad new piece for the Ongi. No, the UNGI is this monkey likecreature, the creatures in Rynanlast Dragon are very similar to real worldcreatures, but kind of how like Avatar...

...the last air binner combines differentcreatures from the real world right in the last drekond does a similar thing. So the UNGI is a strange monkey, like creature, that was very cute in thefilm there's. Actually three different versions with very distinct shapes. This one is the smallest version, so this is not exclusive to this that itcomes in the letter. Sai, the other two ongi are Excludeie, the other set thatwill talk about here in just a minute. It's a very cute, mold and really niceto get in a small set like this. As for the build of this set, it is a smallpiece of the heart palace. Now the heart palace is the biggest set fromthis lone that well talk about towards the end of two days. Episode and Hartis also a region for Kumandra and Ria in the last dragon t has very coolarchitecture. They really got creative on the architecture here and very muchso reminds me of like Indian architecture, but also has lots ofAsian influences like Chinese Mov Vietnamese as well. It's a really coolcombination of lots of different Asian cultures- and I think it looks supercool awesome included with this set- is the Maguffin of the film the ORB andthey use the Mysterio headpiece that has tha kind of like Metalliky, shiny, glittery, milky, texture and color to it. That's a really cool to use thatpiece as the ORB. I think that was a great part use as the cheapest way toget that ORB in this theme and other than that, you have a small littlething that covers the orb, with some cool architectural details as a plantoff to the side. One thing they use for a plaents, and this is actually thecoral piece that was introduced with Lego friends and also seein Hin Legocity. It looks kind of out of place because it's not underwater, but it'sstill the coral piece. They add some leaves to it. Theyry strange part use,but als o a cool piece to get. Nevertheless, so, honestly, it's not acrazy bill or anything, but this is a polly bag and so far as pollybags go. Ithink this is a really solid set. The next set in this line in the only riaset I currently own, is a set Ria and the Sasu Dragon. This is a thirtydollar set that has two hundred and sixteen pieces, and, oddly enough, twohundred and sixteen pieces is like the best deal of any of these boxed ride. The last track on sets very, very strange and we'll talk more about thatthroughout today's episode. As for the figure included with this set, it's theexact same version of Ria that we saw in the Polli bag, so nothing uniquehere. However, the build of this set, the build, I should say, are veryunique and of course, you get the main dragon of the film Sesu herself voicedby Aquaphina in the movie, and this is a very, very interesting dragon buildit's brick built, which I do appreciate. Brick building these creatures. However, there is a very specialized brand new MoD for the head of this dragon andhonestly, it looks a little bit funky. It's not my favorite doesn't quite lookright and the way I attache to the neck. I think it's a little bit too big anddoesn't quite work, but it is triple. Molden also has some printing andfeatures a Horn piece made of rubberd, it's actually like transparent androbbery, and look super cool and has some great textures. So it's a verywell molded piece. I just think it could have been a little bit smaller. This dragon design also uses some chrome. Vinal is pieces that areextremely reflective and look really cool and Adalti iy shaping to thedesign of this dragon, especially at the end of the tail. I love the way thetale of this works. In speaking of tails, the tail the leg and the headand the jaw all have articulation, this is a very posable brick built dragon, which is always nice to see, and I think overall, it's a solid design. Ithink it could have been better. It's probably a little bit too big incomparison with the figures, and the head definitely leaves something to bedesired, but for the most part I think...

...they did a pretty solid job we see suin this set. As for the other builds of this set they're kind of similar tothis build. We just talked about in the polly bag, but they're just a littlebit bigger. They are pieces of the afford, mentioned Heart Palace, andactually one of them can combine with the bigger Heart Palace Tet. That willtalk about at the end of today's episode, ass for the builds here. Oneis a water fall and it has a feature to go under the water, which is a verycommon ligo play feature nothing super complicated, but it works out prettywell. It has a nice, transparent, glitteryg piece for the water that usesa sticker. Honestly, this sticker kind of makes it look cheesier markcartoonish. I think it would have been fine without the sicker, but it's acool looking mother farm. Nevertheless, it looks pretty cool great colors greatshape, nothing crazy to write hume about very few pieces use, but I thinkit looks pretty good overall. As for the other built from this set. This isthe part that actually connects to the heart palace, like I mentioned, and hasan entrance at the front with a Nice Teal gatepiece that looks very cool, there's also some nice gold domes on top that look nice and yet again.Another example of Te Coral piece being used as a plant piece outside looksvery strange, but they're still very cool pieces to get and honestly theinside of this particular set. It has a click that has little fountain somestorage and it has a hidden box uptop that has a gym in side. That's probablysupposed to be a piece of the ORB, but for the most part, it's a fairlyunderwhelming interior to this build, but it is cool that you can connect itto another set, and I was actually the first person on Youtube to review thisset in particular and I'm very happy I got this set. I gave this set very highpraise. It has great pieces, it has great play ability, features andhonestly, when you build everything that pricer peace ratio starts to seema little bit better, because it's a very big design, definitely worth threedollars. On my opinion, I was pleasantly shockd with how much I lovethis set, in particular, very high praise for me. Now I don't own eitherof the next two sets we're going to talk about because they have somepretty awful prices and the first of those awful practice are going to talkabout here is the fiftydollar. Yes, is a fifty dollar set called boons boat? The set has two hundred in forty seven pieces meeting. This seid joins theelusive and very, very infamous club of being twenty cents per piece. If you'renot familiar with pressure, Pece Te Goden ratio, the thing that peoplealways strive for with price apart ratios is ten cents. A piece this setis over twenty. That is bad for those of you who are' good at math. Now we'lltalk about the build ofh Thi set fairly without talking about the price herefor a minute, the bill of this set, and obviously at coarcopp at they figuresthey cu ad, the Moni dolls of the set you get boon, a completely exclusivecharacter to this set and his printing looks pretty good so far as many dollsgo, but he does use a very generic haracpiece that I think could have beena new mould. You also get seasued Ad Proby, like what ye second e just gotce Su in the last set. Why do we have it again here? This is Sisu in herhuman form, which is a fun little plot detail from the film, and this mew dolllooks really good. She actually uses wonderwoman's hairpiece, which is afantastic carapiece in lavender, which is Super Fun to get with this set, andwe've already talked about in this episode, the Ongi, those a little cutemonkeys, you get all three of them here- ones very small ones, kind of shorterin fat D, then one kind of taller and skinny all of them look great andthey're all brand new moulds, which is nice to get now. All these figures Imentioned, are great and has some cool pieces and whatnot. However, you don'tget Riah Juf, I'm kind of interesting, because let's say you have money forone set and you get this set me don't get the Tethuar character of the movie.I would definitely be let down if I...

...were a young kid getting this set, soyou don't get Righo here, which I find weird and you also don't get the babyof the movie. Now the baby is a very interesting kind of comedic sidecharacter that pretty much spends all her time with the UNGI monkeys. So it'svery odd to me. The baby is just straight up, not included in this set. That's a big oversight on Lego's part. Now, as for the build of this set, youget a side build of a tiny duck, and this is a pretty underwhelming sidebuild. If you ask me, it features to platforms connected to each other andthere's a small little simulation of a fish market. Thet most of the detailsare made literally just using one big sticker, which is pretty lame. This isa very cool town in the movie that had lots of colors in cool shapes andarchitecture, and I really think they could have built something cool basedoff those designs from the film. So the fact that we got such a small andunderwhelming side build is definitely a disappointment. If you ask me,especially when you consider the price of this set now, the main build of thisset is, of course, boons boat, and this is an iconic thing from the movie. Ilove this boat in the movies and the think. It's awesome that Lego decidedto make a set based off this built and I think, for the most part, they did areally good job. Now it's a little bit small, it may be a little bit thin, butthere still is plenty of space for the minifigures or many dolls. Are I'm justso used o saying many figures that it always slips out when talking aboutthese many dolls, O there's nots, a space for the many dolls and there'salso plenty of storage for food with some really nice food pieces includedhere, which is great to see now the pillars in the center actually use thesame teal piece we saw in the last set. I love that piece. I love that colorand they have some nice sticker details on them. It's just teals, not really anaccurate color to this boat. They honestly should just been brown, whichis very boring, but it doesn't make sense for them to be tal here, butstill cool pieces to gate is not really an accurate color, but on top of that, the roof of this boat has a really cool brick built shrimp design. That is oneof my favorite single details and any set of this theme. That is a fantasticdesign and I love seeing that top this aboat. So overall, I think the boat isa really selid design. I think the side built is super underwhelming. I thinkthe figures are good, but there should have been a couple more included andthe fact that this set is fifty bucks is just insane. This should be a thirtydollar set, not a fifty dollar set. I really want this set because I like thecharacters- and I like the build of the boat quite a bit. I just can neverjusgify spending fifty bucks in the set, so I'm going to have to wait to somepoint for this had to go at least twenty percent off to even beginconsidering purchasing it now the final Riah and the last track. An sewergantalk about here is the biggest set of the line. This set retails foreightydollars and has six hundred and ten pieces a little bit better, butstill not a very good pricer piece ratio for this set. This set is Ria andthe Heart Palace on the figures included here. Thank God. You Get RyanShe's pretty much. The same figure that we saw in the other two sets we alreadytalked about, but she does feature a Cape here which is nice to see now. Onething a little complaint I have with this theme as a whole is every versionof riot is her and the Straw hat, and I love that. However, it would have beennice to get a variant of Riat, not wearing a straw hat. That would havebeen very simple for Lega to do and they dustrined it to not include thatin any of these sets, the other figures included that set you get an exclusivecharacter with Namari who is kind of Ria's arrival on of the main villainsfrom the film. She has a great new hairpiece that really is accurate tothe film and then excite to see Lego, maybe use it hairpiece in the future. She is very nice to get here as well, and you get took took now. Toktook isthe obligatory animal sychic character...

...that pretty much every Disney? An ofthe movie seems to have these days and toktook is an awesome, new, moldedcreature. I think he seriously looks great and he's a great animal in themovie he's like a strange combination of a Roli Poli and an Armadillo. That'slike a bug mammal creature, but he's also like ten feet long and can roll inthe ground at very high speeds, while having someone right on top of him, avery weird creature but very creative and a really cool piece included withthis set, and they do include a sale that Ria can ride this figure on. So Ireally do like took took you also get an additional creature here it getsomething that Lego calls the Sarlot, it's a purple Fox and honestly, I don'tremember the Purple Fox being in the movie like seriously on the box. Theyhave the CARACTER Namari petting. This Fox now in the film Namari has thesebig cats, but she does not have a Fox, and maybe I misse something, but Iseriously I googled this and I could not find it anywhere. I have no ideawhy this purple foxes included in this set, maybe Thi something from concept. Are that got canceled within the movie or something because it seriously isnot in the movie to my knowledge, and I could not find any more detail about itonline very strange little thing with this set but transitioning into talkingabout the build of this set itself. You get the heart palace, which has justseriously a beautiful color, scame Teal White Gold Blue Seriously. These aresome of my favorite colors out there and they blend together seanlessly. Itlooks really appeasing to the eye that just love the aesthetic of this wholetheme in general in the movie had a great astedic. I think Lego had a greatjob of capturing that here. As for the main build of this set, you get thepalace itself, which has awesome printed balloon pieces to make thatkind of Indian Tochmal hallstyle dome. Now it is a bit of facade because it'sopen from the back iill talk about why it's open from the back and just asecond, but the fronts look really great and theyr great huge pieces withawesome prints which helps to justify the very expensive price of this setjust a way. Little bit as for the inside, there is the orb with the watersrom. I get a very important detail from the film and Thet is surrounded inkind of a semicircle fashion on the side of the bunch of different littlesections of a wall, and each section has its own little specific detail thatthey reference to a scene from the movie and lots of them. Coun kind ofspit around to have little hidden play features be revealed which is prettyfun now the Dome actually can spin around and on the other side, there's asmall little bedroom detail for Ria wit, some cute little stickers of likepictures of her and took took on the wall, not eally, something we see muchof in the movie. But it's a nice detail to get. Nevertheless, there's onesection where you can actually spin the Maria around for a sneak attack, whichis a reference to a detail from the film which is nice to see. You alsohave some storage or some swords on one section. Other section actually has ahidden section to store RIAs sword. The Middle Section actually has a tablewith a feast full of food, which is a cool detail as well, and finally, thereis a chest included with this set that has some hidden gyms inside now. Thisbuild is slightly confusing. If you saw the movie and saw this set, you mightnot be entirely sure what you're looking at it's kind of a combinationof a bunch of different scenes from the first act of this film. But thosescenes don't necessarily happen all at the same time in like the film or inthe same place. So it feels like an amalcomation of those things, but it'snot entirely accurate to one particular scene from the movie, but overall as atoy and aesthetically, I still think it looks very good and clearly yall did aswell, because this was voted the best riot and the last dragon set, and Idon't have this set. So it's hard for...

...me to say, but just based off thepictures, the pieces and figures alone. I would probably agree with this, and Idefinitely want to get this sat at some point. Hopefully, when it's like on atwenty percent sale or something of that sort, and that is it yell, thoseare all the RIA and the last dragon sets yeah. I know only four sets makesfor a very short episode of Brick Ology, but I honestly would not mind LeoMaking More Ryan, the latttric and stuff in the future. I would definitelylove to see that and guys check out my review for this movie on My. Are younot podcast on spidify apple and also fall that instagram page? I'm reallyexcited about that, and thank you all so much for listening. Today's episodeof Brick, Ology Police, TAT tuned Bi have some great stuff plan for the endof season. Fourand, then season five is going to be absolutely epic. Thank youall so much for listening God, Plass as a great rest of your day, piece out,Bobye.
